PA planning to issue 'State of Palestine' passports

PA reportedly tells Israel it will issue "State of Palestine" passports - with or without its consent. The Palestinian Authority (PA) has notified Israel that it intends to begin issuing passports which bear the inscription "State of Palestine", Army Radio reported on Wednesday.

Currently, passports issued to residents of the PA bear the inscription "the Palestinian Authority".

A PA official quoted by Army Radio made clear that the move would go ahead even without Israel's consent.

The PA has been making plans to issue passports for the "State of Palestine" for several years, ever since 2012, when the United Nations overwhelmingly voted in favor of upgrading the PA's status at the organization to that of a "non-member observer state".

At the time, PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas issued guidelines ordering the PA government to re-issue passports, identity cards, registration documents, vehicle licenses, driver's licenses, stamps and postmarks with the name "State of Palestine" instead of Palestinian Authority.

But he later backed off from the plan, with his associates claiming Abbas feared that Israel would not recognize the new passports and not allow Palestinian Arabs to enter Israel through Israeli crossings.

Israel should not let a single one of them cross a checkpoint.

Those “passports” will be as useless as a piece of crumpled cardboard...

I suppose the only requirements would be:

1-Certificate of live birth
2-Proof of at least 2 bombings against Israel

Had me there for a second. I thought it might have been for PA / Pennsylvania. We have liberal loons running this state.

At first glance, I thought PA was Pennsylvania.

Not to minimize this story, but my first glance at the headline was PA to issue State Passports. Since I live in PA (Pennsylvania), I naturally wondered what the heck our democrat governor Wolf was doing now! He is following the presiden’t lead on executive orders, so you never know... Whew!

In order to not be racist, this passport will guarantee the user to never be burdened with extra screening

“Those “passports” will be as useless as a piece of crumpled cardboard...”

Either would be valid at the US border.

Exactly. Before even reading the response from Abbas, my first thought was, since there is no State of Palestine, Israel CANNOT (nor should) recognize a ‘State of Palestine’ passport. Such a ‘passport’ should not be recognized anymore than a passport from the ‘State of Sealand’ or the ‘State of Cascadia’ should be recognized.

Abbas may be an SOB, but he is also a pragmatist and realizes that such an action will doom the ‘Palestinians’ to even more poverty than the majority of ‘Palis’ already suffer from. He also realises that such an event will bring about more civil unrest within the lands that the ‘Palestinian Authority’ occupy and quite possibly, his assisination from within his ‘people’.

“assisination” should read “assassination”.

There has never been a “State of Palestine.” The whole thing is a Roman fiction amplified by the British and now the useful killers.

The quality of writing these days... PA means Pennsylvania. If you want to abbreviate Palestinian Authority, shouldn’t it be P. A.?

Who cares what they issue. Other than the Euros and Obama, I don't know that these passports will be honored most places.

Lol
It kind of took me a while to get used to seeing it and not think Pennsylvania.

Arutz Sheva is an Israeli news channel so I am sure most of them feel the same way when they see a headline for Pennsylvania .
