What bother’s me is they describe this “golden age” of the working class as working in the mills, foundries, factories, etc. and then the jobs move to China.
What they fail to fill-in is the ‘why’ those jobs moved to China.
Union wages and demands, EPA, Taxes, and toss in there OSHA, Worker’s Compensation...all those things that describe this wonderful ‘age’ in America was ruined by socialist type policies.
All those who insist that the sky is bluer than ever before for the working class can’t seem to explain to me why when I was 23 years old with a Navy electronics certificate and a high school diploma I was working in a manufacturing engineering department, driving a new Mustang which I bought for myself and which cost me only six months wages and paying rent on a three bedroom house yet I was told to my face that I was a failure because I did not yet have a wife!!! Show me a 23 year old doing that well now and I will show you a rare exception who is considered to be very praiseworthy but in those days I did not meet the norm which, at least in this area, was to have a wife, at least one child and a mortgage by that age.
It ain’t all because they don’t want to work.
