Penn-Trafford students, administrators oust National School Lunch Program

At Monday night's school board meeting, members voted to opt-out of the National School Lunch Program. The federally-funded program gives money to school districts who follow strict guidelines on what foods have to be served and the portion sizes of those foods.

"I don't buy lunch because I prefer the choices I can have from home, and the choices here don't look very appetizing to me," senior Emily Graziano said.

"I see the food, too, and it's not high quality. That's one of the reasons why I pack my lunch," sophomore Evan Portman said.

The high school will lose the funding when the new food program takes effect the 2016-17 school year. The cafeteria will offer a food court-style setting so students can choose from various stations.

What IS that-is it supposed to be food? The only items I can make a positive ID on are a banana and what appears to be a container of milk-what is the rest supposed to be?

Some school lunches are more equal than others.

The 0bama spawn school lunches:

Sidwell Friends School

Chilled Cantaloupe Soup

Classic Coleslaw

South Beach Salad

Philly Cheese Steaks

Ratatouille

Sautéed Local Greens

Prison food is more appetizing. And that’s not hyperbole. I work in a prison.

In my world and yours french fries are fried but guess when they are organic they are baked. LOL. The major thing I have noticed between organic and regular stuff at the store is that the organic is about four times as expensive. Way outside my budget.

OMG, it’s a culinary faux pas to fry organic.

I never worked at a prison-just was required to visit workers comp clients incarcerated at a nearby prison one day every 2 weeks-part of my job as a case manager-I usually did eat lunch in the prison cafeteria, and it was actually not bad-it certainly looked like food, unlike what is in that picture...

If they are baked instead of fried, then that side dish is just baked sliced potatoes, isn’t it?

Suitable punishment is already in the works.

In a world where it’s “hate” to say that a 45-year-old man can’t shower with 14-year-old girls, baked French Fries are a problem?

First Lady Michelle Obama vows to personally visit Penn-Trafford to lecture them on healthy food choices, and urge them to return to the National School Lunch Program, which she has championed.

It was a joke.

Good grief!

The sh** on a shingle I’m familiar with is made with a deli package of thin sliced meat like ham cooked in an excuse for gravy made out of flour and milk and served on a piece of toast-an aunt learned how to make it from her husband, who was from up north someplace-she called it SOS-and she was the only one who would eat it-the stuff tasted like library paste with bits of mystery meat on a sheet of cardboard...

But even that SOS looked better than what is on that school lunch tray...

I was at my local dog park walking my two dogs when the subject of diet came forward. I mentioned how the first lady ruined the school lunch program to a liberal. this guy went nuts on me talking about how unfair I was to the first lady and how I was only being disrespectful of the first lady because she has no power over school lunch policy. I think that the way to attack the Democratic party with any kid is to bring up the school lunch program. I can tell by the way this guy reacted that they know that they screwed up the program royally when they let the first lady have her way with policy writing on school lunches.
