If the leaders of the Republican establishment really want to elbow Donald Trump aside, they would rerun Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

This time, though, Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan would be on top of the ticket and Romney would be his running mate, and not the other way around, as it was in 2012.

Of course, the Romney/Ryan ticket was defeated by Democrat President Obama and Joe Biden. But both Obama and Biden are out of the picture in the 2016 election, so the coast is clea

I’m not sure who is laughing but I do know that the GOP is a joke.

Trump got 1.1 million votes in FL. Won every county but one. Trump owns Little Marco’s political future. If anybody has the last laugh, it will be Trump.

Other than playing political games, does cruz ever talk about why people should vote for him? Has he been up front on any issues? Seems Trump is the only one that brought issues to the table.

If the RNC/GOP delivers the amnesty candidate that the Cheap Labor Express paid for, there will be something new appear:

Kamikaze Voter

Defeating Republicans everywhere until there is no GOP

GOP-RIP

Well, Trump is almost 70, and Rubio is 44. I suspect Rubio will get the last laugh.

Cruz can’t tell voter why to vote for him because there’s no good reason. He has no executive experience, business expertise, or leadership credentials. He’s totally running on an anti-Trump ticket and has been since Iowa. There he warned the people that Trump could run the table if not stopped.

What Cruz doesn’t get is that he’s teamed up with the devil. The GOP and billionaires are helping him rack up delegates. But when it comes time to keep or ditch Cruz, those delegates will reveal their GOP party loyalty. Rule 40b will be scrapped and those delegates will vote with the RNC down the line.

“. . . does cruz ever talk about why people should vote for him? Has he been up front on any issues?”

http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Ted_Cruz.htm

https://www.tedcruz.org/issues/

I very much like the positions Cruz has taken on the issues. He has been almost completely consistent on those issues, and he has been an articulate advocate for conservative positions. I know there are those who have cherry picked single positions taken in the course of Senate debate (and taken those out of context) to show that he’s not 100% consistent, but he has been one of the top three conservatives in the US Senate since he was elected.

I’m still voting Trump because (1) I don’t trust the establishment if the convention goes past the first ballot, and (2) I consider Trump more electable. However, Cruz would be an excellent and conservative president if he could win.

Cruz and Trump agree far more than 80% of the time (see my tagline from Ronald Reagan). They should be friends and allies, and we should treat both of them as such.

If Trump, the man with the most delegate votes, is denied the nomination, he would raise a ruckus, take his supporters with him and end any slim hopes the Republican Party would have for unity in 2016 to avoid going the way of the Whigs.

Fixed it.

All Trump has to do is offer to pay off Rubio’s debts and promise him a high paying job and Marco will jump on the Trump Train faster than Ted Cruz can make your head spin.

No if Trump doesn’t get it I would like to see Cruz

Just so I can watch all the Cruisers when Hillary and the Dems challenging his eligibility ....

And Dem have the connect the judges that will rule in their favor...right through the Supreme Court...and watch Ted ruled ineligible for president as not being NBC

and the Cruisers will rant and scream ...and the rest of the country who mock them as well isn’t this what you tried to do to Obama

Cruisers can site all the laws they want .....but there’s enough room for legal interpretation that the people with the power will get the ruling they want

or have you idiots been asleep the last few years on the rulings coming out of the Courts with like gay marriage and ObamaCare....

nothing more stupid then to think you have a chance in hell in a rigged Court....

Controlled by people that hate your guts....

and are going to rule against you no matter what

......and you’re probably guilty to begin with.....

Wow. Just wow.

It’s been awhile since I have seen such a great comment on FR concerning the nomination/election.

Now if someone could get this message to Trump and Cruz we will have hope of salvaging the Republic.

Great post!!

I personally prefer Cruz but I will gladly pull the lever for Trump.

What the hell has happened to my beloved FreeRepublic?

Remember how Cruz was sucking up to Trump early on? He actually visited Trump Towers. Kind of bizarre how Ted was doing that. He comes across as a weasel to me.

Here's a pic of Cruz sucking up to Trump at Trump Towers. Trump was way ahead in the polls and Cruz initiated the visit. He comes across as a sneaky little weasel to me. some_text

WI was supposed to be Cruz’s great ‘turning point.’ And why wouldn’t it be? The governor, Speaker of the House, and last GOP VP nominee all hail from the Cheesy state, and all supported Cruz. His winning had more to do with their setting up a ‘hold’ for a contested convention than with Cruz himself.
