He’s an even bigger dirtbag than Marion Barry of DC. Funny how a certain class likes to re-elect people who have been convicted of crimes...

Seems he got in a bit of trouble with a law also in the 90’s. Something involving a minor.

I didn’t see anywhere in the article where the former tax-cheat congressman was a Democrat.

Like a crime story in which no description of the perp appears, if it does not say "R" after his name it is an automatic assumption as to what he is.

Melvin "Mel" Reynolds is a former Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from Illinois. He resigned from Congress in 1995 after a conviction for statutory rape, pardoned by Bubba Clintoon~!

he had previously hid in South Africa out of fear for his life

LOL! Things have to really suck if S.A. is the better option for personal safety...(OK, we all know that was a lie anyway).

Sounds like the typical democrat ......

- Harvard grad
- Rainbow Push Coalition
- Charged with sex with a 16 year old. Reynolds said the charges were racially motivated charges.
- 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography.
- convicted on 16 unrelated counts of bank fraud, misusing campaign funds for personal use and lying to FEC investigators.
- indicted by a grand jury for failure to file federal income tax returns
- arrested in Zimbabwe for overstaying his visa.
- found to be in possession of pornographic videos he had filmed with several women at the hotel where he was staying.
- accrued over $24,000 in hotel charges that he had yet to pay.
- pleaded guilty to violating immigration laws, and was deported to South Africa.

Just like Marion Barry was famous for his “the bitch set me up” statement when caught, ole Mel was well-known in the Chicago area for the testimony given by his 16-year old accuser in his statutory rape trial. She testified that when she told him he could also have sex with a 15-year old Catholic schoolgirl friend of hers, his comment was “Did I win the Lotto?”

By the way, you would think that a Harvard grad would be bright enough to realize that you have to pay your taxes.

I had a Harvard graduate, who had written several "Business Success" books, ask me a tax question so simple I was stunned this upper crust "professional" didn't know the answer.

arrested in Zimbabwe for overstaying his visa.

Wait'...Zimbabwe, an absolute hell hole run by an evil dictator...

This country can arrest someone for overstaying their visa and we let 50 % of the illegal population skate ?

On second thought, Mel probably forget to register to vote in the next corrupt election for Mugabe...
