America's last president left the oval office on January 20, 2009. Since then, the idiot voters have condemned the country to a series of emperors and empresses.

If we are lucky, we might get a Marcus Aurelius rather than another Nero or Caligula.

Oh, America is getting exactly what it deserves. It’s getting everything befitting a nation that is dying culturally, morally, and institutionally.

That’s why I said “conservative” not “RNC”. The problem is ferreting out the conservatives that are (hopefully) a subset of the RNC.

Who’s the ‘basest’ individual running?

Choices:

a. Clinton

b. Cruz

c. Kasich

d. Sanders

e. Trump

I think the corruption of Clinton, the enabling of sexual predation, the baby killing to full term, the probably sexual perversion herself, the criminality, and perhaps a body count that boggles the mind, these all make her the ‘basest’ candidate of the entire lot.

None of the others even come close.

Does American deserve better?

For some Conservatives yes, but for independents & Liberals no

While the Republican party is full of lowlifes and scumbags, many Conservatives are decent people, but unfortunately many more are morons like everyone else. John McCain, Linda Graham, The Turtle, etc should not have even gotten 5% of the vote in their respective primaries, yet apparently there are large numbers of Conservatives who gladly took time out of their day to come out a vote for these losers and keep them in power.

Liberals, all are scum. The Democrat party is full of evil, vile Narcissistic lowlife pathological liars who lack all morals, empathy and shame. However, unlike Conservative where there are good people , the “rank & file” Liberals are also all evil, vile low life pathological liars who lack morals, empathy and shame. Both Hillary and Bernie are very representative of their constituents.

No group in history has caused more misery and horror than Liberals. They don’t deserve better, their policies will ultimately lead to their destruction (economic collapse, Muslims taking over, etc) and hopefully they will get what’s coming to them.

Independents, they are too busy keeping up the Kardashians to care full time. They don’t deserve squat. If anything, for being so stupid they deserve the same fate hopefully Liberals will suffer.

Republicans, and conservative Republicans especially, believe that money is speech and there should be little or no regulation or limitation on what corporations can give to political parties.

So what you or I do as individual citizens doesn't mean squat.

The parties are drowning in corporate cash and will continue to do so. The Republicans will slowly morph into something like the Tory party in the UK, i.e. liberal social policy with a slightly more free market focus than the Labor Party, er I mean Democrat Party.

I predict that a large number of "conservatives" will convert to Islam because they will find their "conservative" morality more appealing than the libertinism of the left.

I wonder if Trump and Sanders can start an America First type party running on economic populism. For this year I think they can run on 3rd party ticket by getting a number of 3rd party candidates to withdraw in favor of them. Between the two of them they could beat both the DS and RS.

I am reasonably confident that no one who tells Americans the truth that they need to hear will ever be elected.

That sad thing is, you are probably right.

It is a matter of history, that the elites are the last to feel it when a society is collapsing and that it is too late to fix a society by the time the do feel the pain.

Our current political system is designed to prevent the pain the lower and middle classes feel from the decline, from filtering up the political chain to produce actual leaders with workable solutions to halt the decline.

Ergo, collapse. (Give or take a "Black Swan" event, which will topple the system faster that the entropy.

W. was no better than what's followed. His disastrous presidency set the stage for what followed with obama. He spent more than all his predecessors combined, he expanded entitlements, he got us involved in a war we never should have fought, all because he didn't want to do any harm to the real perpetrators who fund his family. Namely Saudi Arabia. He did absolutely nothing to address the economic problems that were building to a crescendo during his presidency and that crashed over us before he left office.

I believe you are right, but I doubt that America can EVER return to it’s former greatness. Americans have learned that they can get along fine with their heads in the sand and their hands in someone else’s pocket. The takers will soon be a solid majority, and when that happens the country is toast. No one will ever get elected who wants to upset the status quo, and it will only be changed by very hard experience.

Sad and “unpatriotic” as it may sound, there may come a time to cut our losses and let the ship sink. At this moment in time, I don’t see anything to be patriotic about.

Supposedly the last time 65% of eligible US voters voted in national elections was back in 1908, less for state and local. It hasn’t broken that since, a lot of them being below 55%. At least by any thing that I have seen.

Supposedly the 10% of dumbest voters, the ones that vote, but vote one way and then another but can’t usually coherently explain why, are the ones that decide these elections. That’s what swing voters are, right? The people who the campaign money is meant to manipulate into voting or not voting at all based on political ads? Or vote based on how well attended a political really seems to be, or how well the media said a candidate did in a debate. The swayable.

It’s a wonder we aren’t worse off, considering. The problem is that we would probably be even worse off if more people voted, as I suspect the swing voters would only increase as a %.

Freegards

As William Munny (played by Eastwood) says in the Unforgiven: “Deserve has nothing to do with it.” Certainly America doesn’t deserve it, but a lot of younger Americans do, most older ones don”t

If you think politicians are bad, take a look at their constituents.

I'm not arguing that W's policies were very much better than those of BO, though I could make a reasonable argument that they were.

What I am mainly doing is just pointing out that congress was still relevant on his watch and the Supreme Court was no rubber stamp to unlimited power of the emperor.

something close to a working majority of our population agrees with Bernie.

That should be scaring the crap out of any Patriot, the fact it isn't, is scary indeed.

This is a result of a decision to unite the Americas and Kennedy's immigration bill was the enabling tool they are using to destroy the American Idea.

The very word "austerity" has become pejorative from Greece to Flint, Michigan.
