Union leaders have been able to portray themselves as altruistic do-gooders who work hard and fight the forces of big business and big government to gain better pay and benefits for their benighted membership.
In fact, labor unions have morphed into nothing more than big businesses themselves.
And for the most part the leadership is comprised of greedy, parasitic power mongers who suck wealth from their membership and use the power of the membership umbers to extort wealth from businesses.
Union leaders live large themselves and the welfare of their membership is secondary to their own position and power.
The labor union business model works so well that race pimps like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have adapted it for their own use.
Every cheated Union guy or Gal is another Trump Voter.
First rule of modern legislation. Grant yourself immunity from that which you impose on others.
Unions were early-on leaders in the push for minimum wages at the expense of the poor a hundred years ago - at that time many blacks from the south and other minority workers were flooding northern labor markets, especially in the building trades - this was hurting union workers because the new-comers were willing to work for less than union wages and thus putting downward pressure on wages - the unions started the push for a minimum wage actually higher than what the unions were paid - of course on the pretense that it was for the benefit of the poor and down-trodden - but really to dry up any jobs other than those monopolized by the unions - they haven’t changed their stripes much at all....
