I am pretty sure you don’t know the desperate state NJ is in. This guy’s name should be legion for he is one of many. Businesses are leaving as well. At the end of the day there are fewer of us to support this state’s insane spending policies, amongst other costly insane policies. We like living here but not enough to justify the insane costs. I am actively looking to get out.

Thomas Golisano, is a billionaire who founded Paychex, even ran for NY governor at least once.
One of his houses was assessed for $5 million and he had the nerve to question it.
A court found the house's proper assessment was closer to $1.5 million and the entire mess so upset Golisano he moved to Florida ... along with his billions of dollars.

Also, all the counties, and all the municipalities. Maybe every time you drive your car out of your garage, you should lose 50% of your assets. Because it’s the right thing to do.

Maybe NJ should pass a law forbidding this.

Pass a law forbidding the abuse of the power of Taxation?

Atlas Shrugged’s Directive 10-289 would put an end to this nonsense of people moving their businesses to places that allow it to show a profit!

Same here. Most people don't realize how beautiful and convenient NJ is. However, obama's importation of muslims and illegals into our neighborhoods, coupled with extortionate taxes and living expenses, is driving much of the productive class out of here.

High taxes in one state driving wealth creators to a lower tax state?

It’s a microcosm of the national problem created by high corporate taxes in the USA.

Of course the liberal/RINO solution for lost wealth creators and lost tax revenues is to pass draconian laws to punish people who want to relocate and increase the tax rates to make up for the dwindling tax revenue.

> At some point liberals have to realize that they run out of other people's money. They basically glom 8.9% of this man's income and want to raise the rate to almost 11% and expect a result other than this when Tepper has options?

It doesn't matter how much money you give to a spoiled child. He will always want more till the day the money well dries up and he realizes he has to earn it himself.

I remember when Rush moved to FL and kept his condo in NYC. New York demanded to know how many days per year he spent in NY so they could pro-rate that portion of his income for taxes. He ended up selling the condo and staying in hotels if he had to go there so he was just visiting and not “living” there part time.

Politicians pass tax laws with high tax rates (and loopholes for themselves and their friends), then become indignant when others want to take action within the law to avoid draconian taxes.

40 % of NJ total 2016 budget of 34 billion dollars is funded by is 13.6 billion in income taxes....

Losing 140 million of income taxes on 13.6 billion dollars is going to destroy NJ...???

About 1 % of the total income taxes collected...

NJ must be a near financial meltdown if 1 % lose of revenue will destroy the state...

Maybe NJ should take a page out of the fedgov’s playbook and give the Department of Revenue sole discretion to determine if someone is leaving the state for tax avoidance reasons to levy a tax of 50% on all the person’s assets.

Like Hitler did to the Jews that wanted to leave his National Socialist paradise in the 1930's.

The problem isn’t one guy taking 140 million away from NJ, the problem is all the other guys doing the same thing.

The blood suckers (so called liberals) are immature fools who thinks money grows on trees. Without considering who is paying the bills for those elaborate capitol buildings their fat asses are sitting in. Maybe those buildings just magically appeared?

New Jersey also has a 35% Estate tax....and that's besides the one that the Federal govt levies...

The guy is just looking to preserve his family's fortunes; who could blame him?
