His father was Greek, mother was German (Saxe-Coburg-Gotha). And before the Saxe-Coburg Gothas, the family was from Hanover. Not really much English blood in there. Throw in some Danes, some Saxe-Meiningen, some Mecklenburg-Strelitz, some Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle....

Mostly Kraut.

BTW, not much English blood in there?

Uh, English blood leads right back to...you guessed it...Angles and Saxons (and a drop of here and there, granted). Even the name is derived from the Angles.

WW I+II were mostly family squabbles...and you know how ugly those can get...

No, the real English were Celts. Throw in the Danes (Angles and Jutes), the Danes and Norse (Vikings) and the French (Normans) with a slight accent from the Italians. I’ll just spot you the Saxons as Germans.

No, but these tiresome claims are. And its the UK, not England. Please World, learn the difference.

Not true, but I get your general point.

Now Europeans can get involved — by love-bombing their British friends to encourage them to stay.

Hitler’s dream of a unified Europe, ruled by the Germanic and Nordic peoples, may be frustrated by those Anglo Saxons again.

And the Poles, as well.

Which parts are not true?

We haven’t given up the rights you mention, we have allowed through apathy their power to be denuded or chipped away at. We have the right to bear arms but have allowed or even supported bad gun laws, we have freedom of speech, but have allowed govts to abuse laws and curtail said freedom. Same with due process and freedom of religion.

Sometimes we still have the right and simply don’t use its power.

Well, to me that’s a matter of semantics. Yes, of course, everyone still has those rights, because they are natural rights, you have them as long as you are alive, no matter what government you live under. However, if you live in the UK, you can’t freely exercise those rights without risking going to jail or suffering other penalties.

In England, we have a criminal law against touching without consent: it is called common law battery. Indeed, we do not appreciate a “huggy kissy” culture.

Again, some exaggeration there, but I get your point.

Why has no media outlet looked into who is really behind this “grassroots” and “viral” pro-EU campaign?

e.g.

https://necessaryintervention.com/2016/04/18/hug-a-brit-is-a-grassroots-campaign-gone-viral-yeah-right/

Surely, that’s what serious news outlets do before publishing stories and making claims of alleged fact, isn’t it?

Welcome to FR and thanks for the link.

Expecting the media to do its job is like expecting politicians to do theirs.
