At some point in our longing for a new and truly Catholic pope, we must stop excusing his administrative and verbal misbehavior by claiming it is the errors of the press, the media, his translators, his interlocutors, everyone but him. His papacy has been a rank disaster to date and does not seem likely to improve. New conclave (keenly aware of the blunder of the last one). New and genuinely hard-line, genuinely Catholic pope. ASAP.
