More than two months after Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump claimed to have raised $6 million for veterans' charities at a fundraiser held on the eve of the Iowa caucuses, most of the organizations targeted to receive the money have gotten less than half of that amount.
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
It's only been 2+ months since the fundraiser: how can anyone cry "foul" about half of the money being distributed at this point?
What percentage of funds raised is actually given out to needy groups by other fundraising organizations?
How far will Fox and WSJ go to derail Trump?
I think we're seeing just how far Faux News will go.
Ailes and Murdoch definitely have an ax to grind against Trump
ZOMBIE
Why aren’t they reporting on the Clinton foundation?
Good post, yes why aren’t they reporting on the Clinton Foundation?
“Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) founder Paul Rieckhoff called the event a “political stunt”
This guy is a left wing hack and a phony. Got bagged wearing medals he didn’t earn, even a special forces patch.
And if all of the money was already distributed without vetting the recipients, we’d be hearing horror tales about how it’s being wasted. I gave money to this cause, proud to it, and have full faith that Donald Trump is a man of his word.
By the way, how much money has Pants Dropping’ Ted raised for our Vets?
Why doesn’t Fox do a story on Wounded Warriors? They are a big advertiser on Fox...
[Why doesnt Fox do a story on Wounded Warriors?]
Brava for that question.
The Trump campaign should be fully transparent on this matter.
People keep using the phrase pledged but it would seem that the only mechanism for most people to donate was through a website set up that also disclosed that the donations would go to and through the Donald J. Trump Foundation and also note that the donations could only be made via credit card there was and is no option for I want to pledge x amount but bill me and I will send you a check later.

So the question is how long does it take for the donors credit card to be charged and the foundation to receive the money? From my experience having made on-line donations and also having worked for a couple of non-profits, typically only a few days, a week at the most. The website and the WSJ article does say that 1.7 million was raised on-line. So what makes up the rest of the 6 million?
The WSJ article does however and I also note that:
The benefit raised $1.7 million from online contributions, according to information made public at the time. Mr. Trump personally pledged $1 million, and other funds were raised from his wealthy associates.
Among them, Phil Ruffin, owner of Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, gave $1 million directly to Mr. Trumps foundation with no strings attached about which groups it benefited.
Some individuals whose contributions were part of the $2.4 million responded to Mr. Trumps appeal by giving to veterans groups directly, according to interviews with them or their representatives.
Casino magnate Carl Icahn gave $500,000 to two groups, the Green Beret Foundation and the Navy Seal Foundation, an Icahn representative said.
Stewart Rahr, a former wholesale drug company owner and Trump associate, also gave $1 million personally to 11 charities from the list, said Steven Burns, a Stewart R. Rahr Foundation director.
Nine West founder Jerome Fisher, a friend of Mr. Trump, and Mr. Fishers son, Marc, gave at least $20,000 to organizations that included Operation Homefront of Massachusetts, according to a spokesman for the charity.
I guess it would not be incorrect to count the donations made to veterans charities directly by Trumps friends and business associates as part of the 6 million raised but it does raise some questions.
And if all of the money was already distributed without vetting the recipients, wed be hearing horror tales about how its being wasted.
Fair enough. And I agree, they should be vetted. But Trump has already named the orgs that were identified as being recipients of the fundraiser.
What veterans groups will see money from Trump's rally?
Perhaps not all on that list will pass the vetting and or other groups/recipients will be named later
The Trump campaign should be fully transparent on this matter.
No. We should just trust in Trump. / s
Seriously.
What crap “journalism.” The article states over and over that many of the groups didn’t respond to requests for information, yet has the balls to list them as if they didn’t receive the money.
And, the USSC has said that 2 men who marry is the same as a man and a woman getting married. Just like that decision, I know that natural born citizen is not someone born in Canada to a Cuban father.
