“If Trump doesn’t show up with 1,237 delegates, Cruz will be nominated on the second ballot.”

You really think a large chunk of Trump’s delegates are going to flip to Cruz? You think the Donald won’t walk out of the convention and take his followers with him?

There is no such thing as a "Trump delegate". Delegates are selected by the state party organizations and are usually party officials and big donors. They are pledged to vote as per the primary outcome on the first ballot. After that, it's whatever the party wants. Trump is not popular with the party regulars and I suspect that if he doesn't win on the first ballot he has no chance at all on the second.

You do realize if Trump doesn't have over 50% that none of the Trump delegates have to flip to Cruz, for Cruz to get 50% +1. When they walk out of the convention what do they get?

gopE Cruz won’t need a large chunk of Trump’s delegates. He’ll have all the other delegates by order of the party leaders.

And once again, enough people will have been fooled by the rinos that the crap will continue for another four years.

It’s not the Trump delegates so much but there are a lot of other delegates pledged to Rubio, et al who may switch.

Very good questions, NRx.

And, while I don’t expect Cruz to walk out of the convention if he doesn’t get the nomination, will a significant number of Cruz’s supporters stay home or vote third party if Trump wins the nomination?

If either Cruz or Trump is going to win, they will need the votes of the other’s supporters. Will they get it, or will the supporters of the losing candidate take the “my way or the highway” approach?

Very good point, but you are using logic, and again, with certain people.....

I believe when TRUMP is short by only 30 to 40 delegates he can find his 30 or 40, in a room full of thousands, turn around and leave the rest of them sucking for oxygen on the convention floor.

State to state the people mostly overwhelmingly voted for TRUMP against their own Republican office holders, most of whom are indebted to the Establishment. These state representatives in the House and the Senate are a significant number of delegates, automatically.

The rubes from the fields and the villages are we the people types who made TRUMP the frontrunner.

It is very possible that these supposed Cruz delegates will have a conscience, and realize they are thwarting the will of the people when they attempt to stand up and impose their personal will against the people’s choice and cast their vote for the globalist mule, also known as, Cartel Cruz.

Christian delegates should wrestle with whether we even have free elections, if delegates can dump over the will of the people.

A large chunk of Trump's delegates don't need to flip to Cruz for him to win if it goes to a second ballot. All it would take is for that majority of delegates that didn't vote for Trump on the first ballot to vote for Cruz on a later one. There would likely be some defections by delegates who were committed to Trump on the first ballot, but it doesn't have to be a huge number.
