CAN Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull be saved from humiliating defeat?
Should I even want it?
After all, someone so Left-wing shouldnt lead the Liberals, because that just leaves us conservatives without a strong voice in Canberra.
Then again, a minister I respect rang me to put the best case for his boss.
Labor would be worse a disaster, he pleaded.
But is there really any substantial difference between Turnbull and Labor leader Bill Shorten?
Still, just in case, I offer Turnbull what I perhaps shouldnt: 10 steps to save himself.
1. ATTACK LABOR
Remind voters that whatever doubts we have about you, Labor would be worse, not least because it wants to spend billions we dont have.
.....
2. STOP TALKING ABOUT RAISING TAXES
.....
3. ATTACK LABORS CARBON TAX
Labors planned emissions trading scheme sends our money overseas to fund dodgy global warming schemes.
.....
4. BE FOCUSED
....
Damn it, make up your mind. It looks like you stand for little and will fight for nothing.
5. CUDDLE UP TO CONSERVATIVES
.....
6. STOP THE WAFFLE. DEVELOP SLOGANS WITH CONTENT
.....
7. BE AUTHENTIC. GET SERIOUS
.....
So, above all, show passion and core values. Get serious about whats really serious: our deteriorating finances. Level with us.
8. PLAY FOR THE TEAM
.....
9. GET OVER ABBOTT ....
Grow up. Abbott undermines you only by saying stuff you should have said already.
10. DONT PANIC
This election is still yours to win and you dont need to make big changes to show youre the safer option. So dont panic. Dont look for magic bullets big schemes like the few youve already announced and dropped.
Be the sober manager, not this waffling shyster with mangy rabbits in his hat.

Turnbull was installed because people panicked that Abbott would lose the next election. Now it is looking like Turnbull will - but Abbott was at risk because he pushed policies he believed were good for the country, whether popular or not. Turnbull is at risk because he doesn't seem to be willing to do anything.
He can still turn this around. Better a government with some conservatives in the Cabinet than a wall to wall socialist one.
Australian politics has been dominated by fear and panic of losing elections with ‘coups’ against leaders on both sides in the last decade.
The politicians down under seem determined to win and hold power at all costs.
Will Turnbull end up being scrapped?
Good question. The only answer I can give is I don’t know. I hope not. This instability is not a good situation.
My impression of Turnbull is that his ego is buch bigger than his abilities.
Unfortunately the Liberals, and sadly, The Nationals are stuck with him.
My only hope is that he manages a win, and then does something stupid that forces the Coalition to give the leadership back to Abbott.
Or he could go swimming at Harold Holt’s favorite beach...*
*Not really, but I have never liked the man from everything I have seen of him. He strikes me as a “me too” Liberal who is Labor lite, instead or presenting a real conservative alternative. Also, his elitist republicanism has no place in a Commonwealth country conservative party.
