And then theres this other guy named Paul Ryan. Over on Capitol Hill, far from the madding crowd of rallies and racehorses, the newest speaker of the House of Representatives has been quietly reinventing the Republican Party by creating a new governing template.

With a jaundiced eye, one notes that Ryans pro-people template seems rather well-timed for a contested convention and perhaps for unifying the party given the divisiveness and repulsion posed by Trump and, almost equally, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). Plainly, it would be dicey for party leaders to bypass Cruz or Kasich, but Cruz will lose in a general election and Kasich may lack sufficient support to justify promoting him from last to first.
Thus, an argument could be made for a fresher face, a former vice presidential pick, who has a record of working with Democrats, a man of faith and family values whose only real baggage is the suitcase he carries home each weekend to Wisconsin.

Again Speaker Paul said no.
Anyone who longs for what passes for normal in DC nowadays is a craven, corrupt hack who is part of the problem there.
Not going to happen unless Trump & Cruz screw up writing the rules. All they need to do is keep the rule that says in order to receive any votes from delegates you have to have one at least 8 states.
The delegates write the rules all they need to do is have their delegates keep that rule in place and they are the only two that are allowed to win.
Yes. It will be slow & methodical, but each one will be removed.
Agreed. And this is Kathleen Parker writing, after all! Of course she doesn’t want any big changes in DC!! She’d have to learn some new names.
“The delegates write the rules “
That’s adorable. You think you have power.
Why is it that every time Cruz speaks, he comes across like a country hick Preacher bellowing inside one of those big tents just off the road.
Because he is another designated loser.
Just like the time he said "no" to running for Speaker ?
He said "no" before then insisted (modestly) on some preconditions to saying "yes"......
It's those like him/McConnell/Boner/ and company who are most interested in taking Trump down because he's the biggest threat to the status quo of the entrenched GOPe for the moment. If they manage to take him down, they WILL focus on Cruz ....
The Parker-Romney Team attacked Gov. Palin to throw
the previous election (2008) to Obama (for Soros)

Who benefits most from Sanford meltdown? Californian (that's right) Mitt Romney

Well there you go, Cruz wins Wisconsin and makes it look like Trump can’t get the majority, assuring the GOPe gets to select the candidate. And now, a day later, they start with “what we really need is somebody new, not Ted Cruz” stuff.
And I should believe that? meh
