JACKSON, Miss. The Latest on Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signing a bill law that allows religious groups and some private employers to refuse service to gay couples based on religious beliefs (all times local):
New York's governor has banned nonessential state-funded travel to Mississippi after that state's governor signed a law allowing religious groups and some businesses to refuse service to gay couples.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the ban Tuesday, the same day Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed the measure, which supporters say will protect those who have religious objections to same-sex marriage.
Last week Cuomo, a Democrat, banned state-funded travel to North Carolina after lawmakers there blocked anti-discrimination protections for gay, lesbian and transgender people.

This stunt is going to age fast. First, when these yahoos discover that the scorned states don’t care what they think, a second when people ask why their state is paying for “non essential travel” in the first place.
Sounds like the states are starting to come apart again...just when the parties and the political system itself is showing signs of coming apart as well.
Are we going down this road again?
Onoz!! No Noo Yawkers to deal with??? Whatever will we do? I note that the policy seems to have a lot of loopholes; only “nonessential” travel and so on. Is there anything else we can enact to get them to tighten that up, and close the back door, er.....um.......
Pretty soon, no one will be able to leave NY. If I ever find a down side, I’ll pass it along.
Exactly right. Those tax payer funded trips are nothing but political junkets. Let those damn mayors pay for their own travel expenses.
The law has already had an incredibly beneficial effect if it keeps the vile, corrupt Andrew Cuomo and his ilk out of Mississippi.
Can they ban travel to Texas while they’re at it?
The queers have started a civil war
Monday is fire a queer day.
Tuesday is fire a dyke day
If you already employ a trannie, you are brain deficient
Way to go, Mississippi!
You got Cuomo to STAY OUT!
That is probably fine with Missippi, doubt they want New Yorkers down there anyway.
MS should help the South and bans carpetbaggers from NY.
The libs are running out of states to boycott. Indiana, NC, Georgia and now Mississippi.
I’m pretty sure this is illegal.
I’d love to see that but it would be just as illegal as what NY is trying to do.
MS and NC should host the next big convention of ________(Something NY is really interested in). Lets see how well this goes over ;-)
I’m just curious; doesn’t the commerce clause apply to states dealing with other states? That there is not only no legal foundation for an economic boycott, but a specific order not to do it?
Seems like something entertaining for a lawyer to pursue.
SWEET! Constitutional carry is well on its way to becoming Mississippi law and now liberal jackasses are promising not to come here. Could it get any better?
“Id love to see that but it would be just as illegal as what NY is trying to do.”
Who cares about laws anymore? The left has declared the constitution and any and all laws breakable at will.
My question: Why is the State of New York funding nonessential travel anywhere? Maybe that's why the taxes are so high!
(I HOPE Mississippi isn't funding nonessential travel to New York -- or any other state.)
“”Last week Cuomo, a Democrat, banned state-funded travel to North Carolina after lawmakers there blocked anti-discrimination protections for gay, lesbian and transgender people””
Why does anyone think it’s necessary to add “a democrat” to people who make decisions like this? It will always and forever be “democrats” who are this twisted!
“”if it keeps the vile, corrupt Andrew Cuomo and his ilk out of Mississippi.””
Just looks alone should ban him from ANY state!
Just ban any gov't agency (schools etc) from purchasing insurance from a NY based company - see how long this lasts ...
One can hope . . . one can hope !
Can we get all liberals to make this claim that they will stay out of the South??
I lay this at Governor Nathan Deal’s feet.
Could he keep them from moving to Virginia ,Georgia, FL, ect ? Goofball
Come On Moe
I think those people from NY need a place to use the bathroom
Pretty soon the NYS bureaucrats won’t have anywhere to go on their non-essential travels.
If he hates discrimination so much then why doesn’t he ban Curves from operating in New York
Well, Mississippi should be thankful that NY is keeping their LGBT crowd at home .... maybe other states should pass the same legislation and all the queers, freaks, perverts, etc. would remain at home in Ca., Or., Wa. and the Northeast!
You mean New York builds a wall to keep people in? Neu York Demokratische Republik?
“NY gov bans state-funded travel to Mississippi”
Mississippi sends its thanks.
We finally managed to stop the Carpetbaggers!
As a resident of MS, I thank the Gov of New York.
For the life of me I can’t think of any conventions MS would want to host that NY would want to attend. At least I hope we can’t think of anything.
This from a mafia jacked up corrupt son of a mass murderer father who is burning in hell with the blood of 12,000 murder victims who were killed “best to not leave any witnesses”.
Mario Coumo IN HELL vetoed the death penalty passed by the New York State Legislature for 12 years in a row.
His son is even more EVIL, as if that was possible.
I hear Syria is taking all the NYer’s it can get.
non-essential Government jobs. Jeez, what a concept.
What a joke. Exactly how much “non-essential travel to Mississippi” has the State of NY been funding?
If it’s non-essential, why do they fund it at all, regardless of destination? An investigation is in order.
A travel-funding ban sounds like a winner for NY taxpayers.
I doubt that non-essential state travel to Mississippi even happens, so such a “ban” is meaningless.
And it's about damn time!!!!
