A DePaul student was unexpectedly caught in the middle of a short-lived political scandal. Her picture was used to help spread a rumor about a presidential candidate that wasn't true.
Samantha Rivera said her phone was ringing so much it woke her up Wednesday morning. There were also texts and emails asking her if she had an affair with a presidential candidate. The journalism major at DePaul says nothing she learned in public relations classes prepared her for this.
Rivera's profile picture is at the center of an alleged sex scandal involving Republican Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz.
Rivera said someone used her picture and created a fake Twitter account claiming to be someone named Jennifer Carr, a writer for the Los Angeles Times. Carr isn't real, but whoever created the Twitter account tweeted that she was a mistress of the Texas senator.

Drew Johnson, formerly of the Washington Times, swears he can confirm at least 2 affairs and that networks are currently sitting on the story. An Atlanta city radio host claims was told by a Cruz staffer that the affairs are likely real. Other folks have stated the Cruz campaign has known about the building story since January. Team Rubio's surrogates, in general, were pushing the story earlier in March and are apparently highly confident about the truth of the matter. Drew Johnson was in the Pro-Rubio orbit. Meanwhile, Amanda Carpenter, named by the National Enquirer, was sitting there getting matching fake tattoos and talking about how handsome and great Cruz is on her twitter feed, because she is totally an idiot. Lastly, stupid Cruz is asked "have you EVER had an affair" and refuses to answer it.
You say there's not a "shread of truth," but apparently there are a lot of people sitting on details of this story, not willing for it to come out yet. They will probably wait for an open convention before dropping the montage video of Cruz exiting and leaving hotels with women.
National Enquirer claims they will be printing more info about Cruz, "indicting" him for an affair, though uncertain if they intend to produce produce proof (though that sounds like their meaning), in their April issue.
Cruz is a Latino horn dog like so many other Latin horn dogs.
“Blaming someone without s shred of evidence, how Christian of you.”

You do realize, I would hope, that all of these slanders and lies are directed at Ted Cruz & his family! They are created & promoted by “forces” that want to defeat Cruz—perhaps Trumpsters or perhaps other anti-Cruz interests.
Wherever they are from and whoever created them...they are despicable.
That's what FR gets for allowing Twitter Trash to be posted as news. Ben Shales would be proud.
How do you know that Cruz didn’t do it himself?
Just so he can wag his finger and blame Trump the next day?
hmmmmm
Truly reprehensible. People want to close their eyes and believe their fantasies.
The now-fired Washington Times reporter? That proof? Get a grip.
A conservative columnist (well, a RUBIO conservative) fired by the Washington Times after they first claimed he didn't even work for them.
It's been proven by multiple witnesses/reporters that it was Team Rubio. You're a liar so you insist on repeating the lie that Trump is behind it, even though you've been corrected many times. Now you're trying to backpedal and say, "Well, MAYBE it was the Trump campaign and Rubio!"
Everyone on the staff got the matching tattoos. It was a joke that they all shared.
That's the claim by a random person on twitter, but never verified.
Liz is quite proud of her little Melania ad and the effect it had. Here she was on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon (boldface in original):
When asked if Cruz had any involvement in the ad, she said this:
I — absolutely not. Of course he didn’t. I mean next thing Donald Trump is going to be out there claiming that it was like the Illuminati or something and that will be just as equally plausible as what he’s claiming here. No, it’s totally bogus. People can blame me if they don’t like the ad. The fact is, the ad worked. The ad did exactly what we intended it to do and it’s done far more than that. The reality is that part of the reason that Donald Trump is tanking right now is because he’s bothered spending a week and a half getting pissed off and acting like a toddler having a major meltdown over this ad.Watch above [video at link] to see the entire thing go down.
Does your Mommie know that you’ve snuck out of the basement once again?
Amanda Carpenter is about as unrandom as you can get. As for "never verified", that shoe is yet to drop. But it should be possible, given the "staff" comprised more than just Ted and Amanda.
Notice the news website doesn’t mention the word “hoax” in the headline.
If you look at the date of the tweet it’s April 1st. It was an office wide joke. They all got the same tattoos. Also people said she was wearing Cruz’s jacket. The jacket had ruched sleeves. She had a tweet calling Cruz Daddy Cruz again if you look at the date it was the day after the cartoon showing his two girls as monkeys was published.
These explanations didn’t come from a random tweeter, they came from Amanda Carpenter and they all make perfect sense when viewed in context.
Looks like unproven allegations are just as easily tossed into cyberspace from one side as it is from the other.
Laughably idiotic.
HOW is Cruz going to get the nomination? Do you seriously think the RNC would give it to him if he could stop Trump?
No, seriously, How is this going to happen.
Or is this nothing more than a vendetta because Trump is destroying him?
You guys need a rest, Trump is getting into your heads. Do you look under your beds at night for fear of the boogie man?
ditto
