Threats, passionate protests and accusations of theft were all on tap at Saturday's Tennessee Republican Party Executive Committee meeting, where Donald Trump backers protested what they said was an attempt to "steal" rightful delegates from the GOP front-runner.
At issue were the state's remaining 14 at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention, which were appointed Saturday by the Tennessee GOP Executive Committee. From the results of the primary, which Trump won by 14 points, he was due to receive 7 delegates from the 14.
Trump's campaign earlier this week met with the state GOP chairman to outline its preferred slate of delegates, but the final slate only included a portion of the people the campaign proposed.
If Trump is unable to win the nomination outright on the first round of voting, many of his and other candidates' delegates will be released and can vote for whomever they please. With that in mind, each of the candidates are jockeying to get their loyalists elected at the state level as delegates to the national convention.

I guess I just don’t understand the process. If the first round counts for nothing, then why have a second round that counts for nothing, and then a third round that counts? Really, that sounds pretty stupid!
Nothing counts until a vote is taken where one candidate has the majority of delegates. Trump needs to quit whining and learn how the process works because his campaign is at fault for not being organized and getting the job done.
Doesn’t do any good to be organized if you’re told one thing and then something else is done behind your back
Trump didn’t vet the delegates he wanted very well. One of the delegates on his slate sued the Republican Party 3 years ago. The delegates had to pass as a slate. If one was unacceptable the slate would be denied. Different states have different rules but it is noone’s job to hold Trumps hand and explain it to him. He whines that it is unfair and GOP is stealing from him because the alternative is to admit he and his people don’t know what they are doing.
Then you support the act of lying and stealing. That’s not the Party of Reagan that I knew.
The Party of Reagan would have informed the Trump campaign that certain delegates of his campaign were unacceptable and that the campaign should offer alternatives. But that didn’t happen. Instead, they slipped in their own scumbag liars.
And scumbag liars are what you support here. You won’t get away with it!
Mob rule is the rule for Trumsters. And they are ready to lynch anyone who comes between them and their god. Ask some of the people who were bilked by Trump and find out he’s no saint in business either-—but then, that’s OK
Lying and cheating? Look in the mirror and see the pot calling the kettle black
Trump is doing the same as Ronald Reagan did! And Ronald Reagan was the greatest President of the 20th century.
There are a lot of Reagan democrats out there that have wanted to vote for a Reagan-like GOP candidate, but none have existed until Donald Trump.
Independents have grown enormously since 2010 from 24% to 42% in 2014. They could not stand what the spineless republicans were offering. They wanted another Reagan and it did not exist for them until Donald Trump decided to risk everything to serve his country.
Now get a fricken brain! Get smart!
“Now get a fricken brain! Get smart!”
And I shall pray the same for you
I gave substantial information.
You gave bullsh*t.
I don’t need your effing prayers.
Pray for yourself!
The first round counts for plenty. Most of the delegates are pledged for the first round. After that, all bets are off. Think about it. It would make no sense to bind the delegates for all rounds. How would you ever reach a decision? Same vote, time after time.
What Cruz has demonstrated is a far better ability than Trump to...I’ve gotta say this....”Make a Deal” for the delegates. He’s way ahead of Trump in figuring out how the process works and how to deal with it.
If we end up with a conservative nominee (Cruz), we will owe it to Cruz’s work in getting out front of the establishment and locking down enough delegates in a second round of voting to win the nomination. If he doesn’t manage that, prepare for another Romney/McCain/Dole.
