Rick Santorum announced Tuesday that he is suspending his presidential campaign..
Santorum is currently second in the delegate race, but he would have to win upwards of three-fourths of the remaining delegates in order to secure the nomination.
Instead, he seemed to be hoping that Romney would fall short of the delegate threshold and that he could snatch the nomination at the Republican National Convention in August..

Santorum needed 3/4 of the remaining delegates in 2012. As of right now, Cruz needs 81%, Trump needs 52%, according to Forbes.

The point is....the other candidates knew they had no chance of getting the required amount of delegates. Santorum was the closest, needing 75%.

Santorum didn’t play keep away. He played honest and above board, for the sake and will of the voters.
Lyin Cruz is loaded with other people money. Santorum was short of cash. Santorum’s wife was not begging for money everyday. Plus, Santorum was more worried about his daughter’s health.
