Trump team alleges delegate stealing plot in Tennessee

Donald Trump's operation in Tennessee says the Republican Party is trying to "steal" the state's primary election after Trump won it.

On Super Tuesday, March 1, Trump won Tennessee, with 38.9 percent of voters to the 24.7 percent for Sen. Ted Cruz. The results won Trump 33 delegates. Cruz received 16 delegates.

But Trump's team argues that the Tennessee Republican Party is interfering with the selection process of the delegates, the Tennessean reports.

"They're picking anti-Trump people," Darren Morris, Trump's Tennessee state director said.

We are supposed to be a Republic. Apparently the GOPe is planning how to destroy this without pretense - they must figure there’s nothing we can do about it and we’ll get over it.

These people do not love the USA...they love their gravytrain.

I am starting to believe the GOP is more corrupt than the Dems. At least they are honest about rigging their primary with super delegates.

If Trump is beat fair and square, so be it. If he is beaten by skullduggery, it will blow up this party... and good riddance.

Whoever runs as the eventual nominee will need the willing support of all the rank and file, including his opponent’s supporters. That isn’t possible if he hasn’t won by means even his opponents acknowledge as fair.

To win dirty, in the present climate, is to hand the election to the Democrats. I have a feeling GOPe doesn’t care, they’d rather lose than win behind any non-GOPe candidate. These guys had better be talking to each other and getting ahead of it.

I’m not too worried, though. By the time we get to the convention, these guys will have put together the winning coalition that puts them over the top. They’ve both worked hard enough, they aren’t going to let GOPe steal it from them.

With Paul Manafort on the team, this will end.

Newt says he is the “best vote counter in the business” and is the kind of guy who lays awake at night worrying about each and every delegate and whether he has done enough to lock them down. The old saying “what gets measured gets managed” applies. This will be his Job #1.

What could more destructive than purposely losing elections and leaving half the country without representation?

That IS the role the Republican party has been playing for a long time.

Yes, in some ways they are definitely worse. I hate the sneakiness...which is one of the many reasons I can’t stand Cruz.

Losers blaming others for their own misadventures. Trumpites are pitiful fools.

There are two ways to defeat this Trump people.

1. Get to 1237 before the convention or,

2. Get in there and fight according to the rules.

Trump does not have a divine right of Kings. He must earn 1237. They need to quit whining and do what the Cruz people are doing, working within the rules!

I’m with you except it is the pampered cry-baby Trump that brings up the retch in my throat.

“Mommy, they’re trying to take my delegates!! waaaaaaa!”

You spend the time and tens of millions of dollars running a campaign and winning! Only to then be told when your delegates show up that they are not allowed in the room, while the republican party selects delegates that are anti-you.

Who could possibly be for that scenario besides an abject moron? Remove the name Trump and replace it with your favorite candidate. Hillary? Bernie?

Well said. And for the people saying it is as easy, just get to 1237 and work within the rules, they can change the rules or some of those 1237 can vote for other people anyway. Like in PA, I vote for Trump and the delegates can vote for whoever they want. I wish it was a simple as people say, just get out the vote and working within.

From reading the article, it sounds like they are selecting delegates according to the rules, and Trump is just getting out-organized once again. Trump will still get his delegates on the first ballot, as required.

We are supposed to be a Republic.

You are confusing our form of government with the process a private group (the GOP) uses to select the nominee for their party.

Maybe you should stay home in bed under the covers a hold your pillow over your head...

Then you wouldn’t have to hear it.....

You guys were bragging when they were going to give Trump more delegates than he won in Alaska. There was hooting on here over that! I do not know the details of who was in a room or was supposed to be or whatever. I do know that Trump is, by virtue of his showing in TN, alocated 33 votes on the first ballot. That is ALL he has been promised. Your man insults every person and candidate in the party and you guys expect them to bend over and kiss his ring? He will get all that he is allocated under the rules, no more, no less. Same with Cruz.

Again, the way to avoid all this is to make it to 1237 before the vote at the convention. Then, all of this makes no difference. Do you expect Cruz to just sit there and not try? He and his people are doing all they can, within the rules, to win.
