The figure shows there have been 8 contested conventions in the last 100 years (since 1916). Only 2 such nominees went on to victory. However, in the case of 1920, both parties had contested conventions, so one of them had to win. Thus, the only free-and-clear presidential victory arising from a contested convention was in 1932, when Roosevelt was nominated on the 4th ballot. And we all recall, that was after the EPIC stock market crash that left Herbert Hoover hanging out to dry.

Bottom line: a contested convention means President Hillary. Embrace the suck, as Pelosi would tell us. Think hard as you go to vote in the primaries.

Look, I read an article earlier this morning, very compelling - there simply are. no. more. contested. conventions - the last one barely within JimRob's lifetime! think about that - because of the advance in communications. Period. This article related a portion of a story where an FDR fixer got to the convention by train, and upon disembarking, simply had no idea where they stood in numbers!

What has been going on the past couple of weeks was: (1) an actual election vacuum between WI and NY; and therefore (2) the MSM flooding that zone by resurrecting a farcical echo of those bygone horse & fuggy days, riding that horse team into the ground until it was crushed by a resounding New York Trumptastic victory (where freaking Carson outpolled Cruz).

Now it's all about both nominees - Trump and Hillary - pivoting to the main event, kids.
