Ditto that! I took a Poli Sci class on “Race and Politics in Southern Africa” in 1979 at IU. It was not exactly what I thought it would be; the professor, Gwendolyn Carter, had traveled extensively to South Africa and personally knew all the players. She was friends with Chief Buthelezi and clearly favored him on over Nelson Mandela.
And she openly laughed at a FRELIMO propaganda film she showed in class, but she pointed out they were going to replace the Portuguese in Mozambique so we might as well get to know them.
And Reagan supported Buthelezi as well.
