WTAE-TV news anchor Wendy Bell has been fired after a recent public apology from the station regarding a post on her Facebook page. A statement made today from Hearst Television, the station's parent company, reads "WTAE has ended its relationship with anchor Wendy Bell. Wendy's recent comments on a WTAE Facebook page were inconsistent with the company's ethics and journalistic standards."

I guess Wendy was trying to lighten the mood with a joke at the end there.
In the wake of the mass shooting the veteran news anchor posted her observation. She noted, in part, “You needn't be a criminal profiler to draw a mental sketch of the killers who broke so many hearts two weeks ago Wednesday.... They are young black men, likely teens or in their early 20s. They have multiple siblings from multiple fathers and their mothers work multiple jobs.”

She has reported literally 1000s of these stories. This one was almost at the stations doorstep.
She always seemed genuine and very nice. Well spoken. I know she has four sons (I think her DH is a cardiologist) so she can kick back and be a mom...or stick it to her wimpy former employers and go to Wpxi or kdka.
Couldn’t have been worse, she could have said, “They are so poor, and they are so black”.....Wait, Wolf Blitzer still has his job.
Wow! ASAIK she didn’t say anything anyone didn’t know. Mentioning the color of the skin of the victims and probable perps was a given in that area.
There has been some discussion on the radio forums about it.
BTW I’m not a WB fan nor a fan of most if not all of the local TV folks. Pittsburgh has fallen a LONG way in broadcasting.

Reality can seem very malicious which is why PC is so needed by so many. PC seeks to deny reality, much like alcohol and drug abuse do for those who imbibe.

If she were wrong she could be forgiven.
We drove through that area about two years ago...past WTAE’s parking lot towards Pittsburgh. It was horrible...some yards literally strewn with garbage.
Wendy Bell always seemed likeable and she is now the sacrificial lamb for the new PC first amendment.
As a side note...how is baby Bennett? I remember praying for him when he was born.

If she was right, that is all the more reason to fire her in the world of political correctness.
