So now Trump is TOO pro life. Ok...

Does it not strike you as odd that he's on record on two sides of the coin here. On the one hand, planned parenthood is okay, because of all the good they do for women. On the other, he wants to punish women who undergo an abortion.

So. 100 years ago, states saw women who had abortions as “victims”.

Whatever.

Do YOU believe women - right here right now today - who murder their child are victims?

I can’t believe this is even a valid question here at FR. But other FReepers believe they are victims.

(smh at how even FR is infested with pro-aborts.)

I dont think this is an issue of PC. I support Trump in his anti PC stances.

But this is no way to unwind our PC culture.

I think you are mistaking my stance on this. I completely agree with Trump’s statement that if abortions are made illegal woman who willing seek them should be punished.

Maybe you ought to run this argument past Kathy O’K and Abby Johnson before you promote it further.

We are schizophrenic in US about abortion. If a woman murders her baby it is a glob of tissue but if someone injures her and she miscarries it can be murder. Same baby different values.

Whether anything is done about abortion God will in the end require an answer.

Trust me. Women all agree that breaking the law should carry a punishment. I think his answer made sense. We already have a president who picks and chooses which laws he upholds and which laws he doesn’t. How’s that working out? I prefer a President who upholds the law.

Establishment GOP is going to have a field day with Trump’s remark and that will give Hillary even MORE fodder.

Would you not uh say that Trump himself is up against Mob Rule?

What specificly has he been forced not to do? He is on all the states ballots, he has delegates. He is in all the debates he wants to be in. He gets more air time than all the other candidates combines. So how is Donnie harmed at this point? What mob is keeping him from anything?

Everybody said the exact same thing when Trump announced his candidacy and was said to be too hard on illegal Mexican immigrants— Everyone was certain that was the end of him... well not everyone...

I don’t think you listened closely enough to Trump. He actually said that he would defund Planned Parenthood if they did NOT stop doing abortions.

He said that if they do STOP abortions, then they do other helpful things for women.

However, in the case of the ‘punishment for illegal abortion’, He was specifically asked if there should be punishment if abortion were illegal.

He said ‘yes’. If it’s illegal, then there should be some kind of punishment.

If it becomes illegal in your town to mow your lawn between midnight and 5am, should there be some kind of punishment for violating that?

Yes and early on in this thread was that the one’s that would have an issue with Trump’s words would be Trump supporters. You know the non-conservatives here.

The story has surely had a different ending though.

“as long as abortion is the law, just work to overturn it or encourage hearts and minds to find it a terrible injustice to the unborn.......but punish women for abortions?? “

He wasn’t talking about if abortion is the law. That wasn’t the premise. Watch/read it again. The premise is if abortion were made illegal.

Wrong have you heard about the overton window
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton_window

Its where a person pushes radical ideas and makes them more acciatble.

FOr exaple nobody would have even dared to talked about banning muslim immigration if not for Trump.

Trump has pushed the overton window. Hes making what were “fringe extreme conservative” viewpoints now actually debated and talked about in the media, moving those “radical ideas” to the center

You know as damn as well i do nobody would have talked mass deportions of illegal immigrants for not Trump

He made that a accpable argument

This is what geert wilders in tne Netherlands has done, many of his “extreme” anti Muslim views have gone into the mainstream and many mainstream political are adopting his rhetoric.

The danish peoples party also, They have a anti muslim platform which was viewed as fringe and too extreme but now they are a large political party and have pushed trough laws that would have never even been brought up by any mainstream politician in Denmark

But trump focused on the mexicans murdering US citizens in car crashes, taking jobs away from americans, drugs and gangs.

He had the context right with the illegals .

So. 100 years ago, states saw women who had abortions as “victims”. Whatever.

That is how the law worked in 1900. I am sure there is more to be learned about the background and informing ideas that made it so. Or, you could just keep emoting and making baseless accusations.
