That's ALL it is.
Boeing management constantly run hustles on Washington state legislature for more freebies.
As for taking things to South Carolina, when the idiot Sikh girl runs out of tax bennies for them, they'll move on.
Business at Boeing is the best it's been in their entire corporate history. The backlog is near $70 billion and the airlines are all making enough money now to replace the old tired dogs they're running into the ground.
Conner is simply running a game on everyone to maximize his monopoly.
I'm sorry everyone. That's way too low.
Boeing's backlog is around 5800 aircraft according to various reports. At an average of about 50 million an airplane, it's more like $290 billion, and that's probably low: the aircraft count is about 7.5 years of production and they are running about $60 billion a year...so that's about $450 billion.
If anyone here thinks a company like that is in any real trouble and needs to eject 10% of its workforce RIGHT NOW, then there's nothing we can say for you except...suckah
The productivity of Boeing workers in Washington is really low and they have a real militant entitlement attitude .
Strikes have been a big problem for Boeing in the past.
Many of the job reductions are a result of Boeing off loading higher level job functions to sub contractors to eliminate strike related disruptions.
For example, where a supplier once only delivered sub assembly parts to Boeing for assembly, they now deliver the sub assembly fully assembled and tested to Boeing for integration.
Most of the jobs are actually staying in the US but are being distributed to non Boeing workers, some of whom are located in Washington State
What monopoly? Heard of the govt owned Airbus conglomerate? Then, there are the Russians but who buys their planes anyway?
Additionally, the small-mid size jet makers are Brazilians (Embraer) & Canadians (Bombardier).
The ChiComs are rumored to be coming up with their own large passenger jet.
More power to Boeing if they want to relocate from Washington to a right to work state.
