I wonder if this person is part of the great Blair family of Maryland. The Blairs had family members serve in every administration from Jackson to Lincoln to include Montgomery Blair. They served in the Civil War and played a critical role in the formation of the Republican Party.
If so, the family has fallen on hard times.

That I did not know. Interesting. His name is very distinctive and classy sounding, unlike most generic surnames you hear today. It’s a name that someone (parents) gave a lot of thought to.
