People keep forgetting the Senate is 100 votes. If the climate of the Senate 'changed', then why did it change? How many GOPe Senators had knowledge of what was going on in Benghazi? No one has been charged. No real scandal, beyond what we Hillary watchers know, and a lot of testimony that went nowhere. What would it take for a 'no vote', and that's just on Benghazi (Keeping in mind the Admiral was a past commander of SEAL Team 6--tasked with counterterrorism), not on the idea of open homosexuals in the ranks--something that might not go over well with a SEAL.

I think that by the time the Admiral was cleared of wrongdoing, the sense of the Congress had changed, in more ways than one. By then virtually any pretense of Congress fighting the administration's demands was gone and the order to scuttle him may well have come from a different place besides the Senate itself.

"When it became clear that key senators would stall other Pentagon nominations in protest of the planned promotion for Losey, the Navy announced last week that it would withdraw the promotion and the SEAL would seek retirement this summer."

In the end, I smell Harry Reid all over this, and he takes his marching orders from 1600 PA Ave.

Hillary was a very big piece of Benghazi, but the Cross-border authority had to be issued from the top. There were response/rescue teams spooling up in Africa, in Italy, and it is possible the SEALs wanted in, too. there was plenty of time for them to get there.

Note Gen. Carter Ham (AFRICOM) and the admiral who was in command of the closest carrier group were reassigned shortly after Benghazi. Maybe this was the only way one of the commanding officers out there with a beef over Benghazi could finally be drummed out.

“Watch for the Navy Seals to be transformed into a community service organization!”

******

Still waiting for Obama to order all of our military to serve under UN command as “peacekeepers” (at the same time he’s pitching to become next UN Sec Gen).

McCain co-wrote a letter to Navy brass in January urging them to not promote Losey.

No wonder the entire issue has a rank odor.....

I read the entire article and I can’t decide if he got screwed or was a vindictive prick. Not enough facts and I don’t know which are facts and what is fiction.

Obama is as bad, but without the amount of death of his own people(yet) as Stalin . But it was the Senate who blocked Loney. Of course at that time the democrat lead senate was in lockstep with zero. I would love to see the Loney vote to see who if any republican senators voted with the democrats.

Could the next President reverse this? Or is the decision purely one from the military justice system?

The current president is the one trying to promote him. It's the Senate that is blocking it. Will that change just because there is a new president?

Every flag officer is “full of himself”. For one thing they are mostly highly capable people who have earned it. Secondly they are surrounded by sycophants.

Amen, brother. The truth will ALWAYS come out. Some of these guys/girls think the regs don’t apply to them.

There are two ways I interpret this to have gone down:

1.) Admiral Losey was engaging in illegal activities, was accused anonymously by principled people in his command who thought he was abusing government resources and wanted to put a stop to it. Admiral Losey figured out who these people were, and vengefully tried to put a spike in their careers.

2.) Admiral Losey had under-performing people working under him whom he had reason at one time or another to reprimand, be angry at, or take issue with. They took it personally and tried to torpedo him with allegations of abuse of government resources, with him having a good idea where those allegations originated with, and decided to get them out of his command.

Apparently there was no wrongdoing on his part that could be found by auditors. And the fact that McCain has a hand in this, and Benghazi is involved does tend to make one think there are other factors in play.

Yes. Some seem to be perfectly comfortable with painting the Admiral as being full of himself, arrogant and abusive of power.

Perhaps that is true, after all, there are plenty of those types around.

My gut impression is that there is skullduggery at play here, and it isn’t Admiral Losey who was initiating it.

DEVGRU? For shore-pukes that was generally a good outfit. Sounds like they took out their own trash.

Ping.
I’d like to see if this leads anywhere. Since McLame is involved, it could, in his case. Merely be a case of green-eyed, redass jealousy.

There are obviously multiple “fires” underneath the smoke and the multiple accusations from several different sides.

Most likely, ALL are “guilty” of several different levels of different errors, angers, retributions, actual crimes, actual infractions of both “very minor” and “maybe minor but exaggerated” by politicians in uniform and in the WH and Senate and Pentagon. And don’t ever think that politicians are only in Congress and the WH!

Bottom line though: The troopers (SEALS themselves) are getting hurt and not perfomring their missions as their commanders and admirals go chasing political nominations and promotions. And yes, Reid and his WHite House staffers and their enablers in the homosexual and Muslim community ARE right in the middle of it.
