Not to mention, when NE uses careful, lawyerly weasel words in their stories, which amount to repeated “allegations of allegations against Cruz,” as opposed to making directly affirmative statements. It makes winning lawsuits virtually an impossibility, especially when coupled with the ‘public figure’ barrier.

Not picking on yourself, but, I am trying to understand why this guy is doing what he is doing.

Narcissism is nearly always a result of trauma from childhood. And the Mrs and I figured it out last night. She is the one who pegged Cruz as a narcissist. She has over 30 years in the mental healthcare field and we have been talking about it. She is also a low level narcissist since those people in that filed tend to burn out and, to not mince words, go nuts dealing with these mentally ill people.

Ted Cruz is following in his fathers footsteps. He hasnt realized it yet.

..Where did you get your law degree?...

The average person has the knowledge in the post you are complaining about.

Let it play out. He still can.

Poor advice for crisis management.

Cruz needed to quash this the minute it became public. He should have demanded a retraction from NE and threaten a lawsuit.

The longer it plays out, the more doubt will build about his innocence.

As a lawyer, he knows he should have stopped this accusation dead in its tracks. Merely redirecting attention away from himself and toward Trump makes him look guilty. It's akin to saying "hey look...squirrel."

All five women in the National Enquirer were named specifically.

I knew of Pierson, Carpenter, and Flores. Who were the other 2?

Legitimate mental health professionals tend to be reluctant to make a diagnosis on an individual until after they been able to do a comprehensive in person evaluation of that patient

If your wife actully is a qualified psychiatrist and she has never even met Ted Cruz her opinion is worthless

If your wife has done a legit patient evaluation of Sen Cruz, which I seriously doubt, then she is in deep legal and ethical s***h because she has violated doctor -patient confidentiality

Just sayin'

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different results.”

I heard it a bit differently:

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same result.

The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. ;>)

"Why doesn’t Ted sue NE?"

For the same reason he will not go to the SCOTUS for a ruling on his eligibility under Art 2 sect 5.

He would loose.

Ted Cruz could not have entered the U.S. legally without a CRBA or a U.S. passport, the latter of which was not obtained until 1986.

Let’s cut through all the opinion and speculation, all the “he says”, “she says”, fluff, and go right to the irrefutable, constitutional authority on all terms and phrases mentioned in the U.S. Constitution: the Supreme Court of the United States.
First, let me note that there are 4 such cases which speak of the notion of “natural born citizenship”.

Sounds good, but you are sadly mistaken. Even the FBI uses mental health profiles on suspects to help ID them, and none of the MH professionals have ever seen, let alone examined the suspect.

Much can be learned about someone by examining what they do, when they do it, and how they react to various situations. It is why ALL MH professionals study case histories of individuals they have never met, it is part of their education and training.

Why doesn’t Ted sue NE?

Public figure exemption makes slander lawsuits almost impossible to win. The women need to sue instead.

Because unlike most FReepers, he knows the libel laws. As Trump has mentioned in his speeches, the “actual malice” standard currently in effect means that Cruz would have to prove that NE knew the allegations to be false and published them anyway in order to receive damages. The standard is whether there was malice, not whether or not the allegations are true, and by employing it’s own investigators, the NE is obviously confident of it’s legal position or it would not have published the information, especially in light of the Gawker decision.

I agree. Something about Cruz has bothered me from the first time I saw him. NPD fits perfectly. Obama has it also but is further into the disorder than Cruz.

He doesn’t sue because courts have already found over and over that smear and innuendo isn’t slander in the course of a political campaign.
