0.002 inches? 0.05 mm? That could be just wear and tear on the resizing die.

Maybe I’m a fool, but I’ve always used 5.56 and .223 brass interchangeably. And I’ve never noticed any difference in accuracy with the different brass and the same powder charge and bullet.

I’d be interested in hearing the experience of other reloaders. Or people who may have been reloaders before their unfortunate canoeing accidents.

Thought it was known that military brass was thicker than commercial, making interior volume smaller. Raising pressure.
Isn’t that the case?

The only unsatisfactory experience I have had with firing mil spec ammo in a .223 chamber was with an early (late 1980s) Kimber. The rifle had a very tight chamber and lacked sufficient expansion room in the neck. Like you, I have used mill spec brass and commercial brass interchangably with no issue. The ammo is fired in AR, M16 and various commercial bolt action platforms plus a Ruger #1.
