So the casings are virtually identical. What about the standard powder load?

Compared to the Cruz 8, the powder load is light

The neck gauge thickness is different between the two. Look closer. .251 vs .253.

The difference is in the way the barrel is throated. The 5.56 has a longer throat which has the effect of increasing case capacity.
