This is great news. I pray this continues to be successful. I have a good friend who has two children with this affliction. The eldest, now in her twenties, is a beautiful girl with a great spirit. The youngest, not yet 10 struggles with the daily routine and sad surprises that juvenile diabetes produces.

As the mother of two diabetics, this is pretty much all I want from life at this point.

has been giving herself insulin injections and following a strict daily schedule to take care of her diabetes since she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 17

I think it's a small percentage of people who can take care of themselves like that.

I agree with others, BIG DIABETES will never permit a cure to take hold - too many incomes depend on it. No different than BIG CANCER.

One can imagine the anti-rejection drugs are not exactly a backyard party, either.
Curious to see how scientists can perhaps "mask" the insulin-producing cells so anti-rejection therapy is not needed.
These kinds of advancements would be a blessing to members of my family. Keep at it, scientists!
