BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A clip of the audio recordings revealing Alabama Governor Robert Bentley’s illicit affair with a staffer has now surfaced online.
Yellowhammer was given exclusive access to the content of audio recordings captured by Dianne Bentley, Governor Bentley’s ex-wife, during which Governor Bentley makes sexual advances on and recalls sexual encounters with Rebekah Mason, his former communications director who has since become his most senior external advisor. Mrs. Mason’s husband, Jon, also serves in the Bentley administration as Director of Serve Alabama, the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Volunteer Service.

In fact, he talks about them on the recordings.
Couldn’t he have just said he was hiking the Appalachian Trail, or gone to the Emperor’s Club, or something?

Here’s the thing....who recorded the conversation? The mistress? I’d be willing to bet that she and the husband were both on the inside of this, and manipulating the governor through various things. The whole need for this coast governor’s house to be renovated and fixed up....for his private sessions with the mistress?
So the question is....how did the tape become public? Did they lose control of the tape, or was there a third-party involved and simply steal the recording?
Frankly, I think the guy needs to stand down. He was manipulated and used.
The ex-wife said she was going for a walk on the beach and left her phone behind, with the recorder turned *ON*.
These recordings are what the phone picked up.
(It wasn’t the only thing turned on.)
