I hope it wasn’t where the winds come sweeping down the plain.

Got it; just somewhat (by Western standards) east of Liberal Kansas.

I’ve gone to that link twice now, and it doesn’t show any fires. Or I don’t know how to read it.

For those of us who are down wind of the fires...there’s some strong smoke in Wichita.
Not good as I was in the hospital yesterday, unable to breath due to an unexpected, severe allergic reaction to all the pretty trees and flowers in bloom here. Had to close up and turn the AC on so I can breath, today.

Zoom and pan. Turn on fire perimeters and MODIS heat data.
It takes a little bit of work to get it to display what you want....
Looks like this fire is new enough to not yet be named and get a green triangle. Zooming in and looking at the OK/KS border will show it.

I feel for you. We’ve had that situation a few times where I live in California, and have had to evacuate twice. The smoke gets very thick, and little pieces of ash start raining down. It is very bad for breathing. Hang in there.
