Of course after next year. 2017 runs out the last $20 million on his contract.

He definitely can reach Ruth’s 714. Aaron’s 755 and Bond’s 762 are likely out of his reach.

Yep, I thought his contract ends after the 2017 season anyway. So he’s just saying he plays out his contract then he’s done. Why is this even news?

Or does he want to avoid potential embarrassment of being a free agent after 2017 and getting no offers????

Are you talking about known steroid? Because I'm pretty sure they didn't out all of them.

My favorite bumper sticker seen when I lived in New England - "I (heart) NY. It's the Yankees I hate!"

Eventually some Old Timer Committee will vote them in. They have already trashed the Hall with guys who's stats say they shouldn't be in.

Roger Clemens retired, too - until the money was dangled in front of him.

It’s too bad Clemons got wrapped up in this. He was a shoe in from when he was younger. His workouts were legendary. I saw him pitch in Fenway a bunch of times. At the time he was an animal.

They turn to the roads after injury. The same with HGH and Manning. But they brushed that under the rug if he retired.
