"I understand your point but unlike the Goths these North Africans were actively recruited and invited into Belgium to work in the factories... Not really an invasion, just the price of empire."

Your sentiments were shared by a Roman Emperor in 376 AD. That's when Emperor Valens allowed some Goths, claiming to be seeking refuge from the Huns, to cross the Danube into Roman territory in Thrace. Valens believed the Goths would benefit Rome by providing troops and taxes.

But more and more Goths, who Valens did not permit to enter, quickly followed anyway and a controlled resettlement snowballed into a massive flood. By 377 the Goths attacked and defeated Roman army units in Thrace.

By 378 the Goths joined forces with the Ostrogoths and the very same Huns that Rome gave the Goth refuge from. They then attacked the entire eastern Roman Army and killed Valens along with 2/3s of that Roman army.

By 410 the Goths attacked and sacked Rome. Within a few decades, the entire Western Roman Empire was overrun and occupied by various barbarian tribes.

What turned out to be critically and historically important was not why Rome allowed the barbarians in... but the real intent of the Goths in coming - which was quickly revealed in their ever escalating hostile actions.

Sound familiar?

"Not really an invasion, just the price of empire." Ha!!!!! It is not possible for a person to be more wrong.

The North Africans didn't go to Belgium seeking refuge. The Belgians actively recruited them as laborers and invited them into the country. You analogy to the Romans and Goths is flawed.

I'm not trying to downplay the problems caused by the recent flood of immigration to Europe, but the terror attacks in France and these in Brussels were carried out by born-and-bred Frenchmen and Belgians.

"Not really an invasion, just the price of empire."
"You analogy to the Romans and Goths is flawed."

The central analogy was made to fact that the Emperor believed letting in barbarians would benefit the Empire by providing troops and taxes. Your example was of modern empires that believed letting in Muslims would be beneficial by providing cheap labor.

Both then and now, time has more and more swamped whatever short term benefits there were with disastrous costs that threaten the survivability of the West today and Rome of antiquity.

And the reason was that in both cases the "Rulers" (and you) refuse to see the hostile intentions of those they allowed in their country - and that is true today whether they be classified as migrants, refugees, guest-workers or whatever.

The irony of the Goths seeking refuge from the same Huns they soon allied with to attack their host country - just as Muslim refugees from Muslim violence abroad are joining with foreign Jihadi to attack their host countries - is just an additional analogy.

As Roman history portents, we are only beginning to see the disastrous results.

Forget the quick unthinking defensive reply. Try thinking about the fact presented to you and the tragic consequence of so many like you being so wrong.

Let me guess...they all follow islam, the cult of evil and male emergencies. Profile, identify and eliminate.

They have no place in modern society ...

"terror attacks... were carried out by born-and-bred Frenchmen and Belgians."

I missed that whopper!

Look up "bred" and you'll find "reared in a specified environment or way."

Have you been so brainwashed by PC media that you think Muslims bred by Muslim families in Muslim enclaves of Belgium/France are being reared in Belgian/Frence environments and ways?

As for irrelevance of place of birth in allegiance, I dealt with that in my initial post concerning barbarians born on Roman soil joining across several generations to topple the Roman empire - in spite of where they were born. [Follow the time line I provided!]

Yeah, right next to "to produce more fissile nuclear fuel than is consumed in a reactor." Don't be obtuse.

These Muslim slums in France and Belgium have existed for more than 50 years and are part of the native environment.

Back to your original comment. There may well be an invasion underway but the perpetrators of the Paris and Belgium attacks aren't a part of it. There parents were lured to these countries for the economic benefit of the these countries.

PC?

I’m happy they used the terms “murdered” and “massacre” just to start the article.

Never happens in US. Just generic like “killed” and “attack” at best. Never mind all the idiots who insist on calling all manner of criminals “gentlemen” even while they NEVER use that term anywhere else. Assholes. (Soapbox - heard it on radio again today of someone running down what happened.)

[[So far there’s been very little pre-check-in screening in Western Europe - see Brussels, for example. I’d expect that to change but I can’t imagine the nightmare it will cause if they add another level of screening at Heathrow or de Gaulle .]]

It doesn’t matter how much screening they do when they hire muslims to do the screening.

Actually, in a lot of the world Muslims are not only the perpetrators but also the biggest victims of terrorist attacks. Lots of Muslims are motivated to prevent attacks.

Lot's of muslims are motivated to prevent attacks from other muslims when they are in power. They know their fellow muslims full well if they don't that they won't be in power long and they will be killed because that is exactly what muslim culture produces.

Plenty of America service men have been killed by muslims we were PAYING to guards areas such as airports in their own countries like Afghanistan.

First, you reply as if you don't know that an "analogy" is a correspondence in some respect between otherwise dissimilar things.

Next, you reply as if you don't know that the meaning of "bred" (in born-and-bred) is to be reared in a specified environment or way.

Finally, you twist the last definition to claim it was not that the Islamic terrorists were bred in an environment of Muslim families in Muslim conclaves with no desire to assimilate into their host country - it was the nuclear reactors that was the determining factor.

Seems like your inner Liberal and/or Islamophile is breaking out!

Well share it with some one else... I don't have the patience to deal with the blind refusal to deal with contrary facts that comes with those persuasions. In short, if you feel the impulse to reply to this post, stuff a sock in it!

You could get to the ticket counter with a bomb, right? It’s before security. It gets very packed before a flight. You can pick which flight you want to target. Sigh. Now the security perimeter will be extended outward again. And we all know what that means.

I traveled in India and Thailand last year. They were very strict, but I rolled my cases up to the counter to check in. They had to be screened before the security perimeter though, near the front.
