Three days before ISIS militants killed Marine Staff Sgt. Louis Cardin, the U.S. military notified his family—and the families of roughly 200 Marines—that their loved ones had moved off the USS Kearsarge, deployed to the Persian Gulf, to somewhere in northern Iraq. The letter didn’t say exactly where he had been deployed two weeks earlier, or why.
But while his family and the American public were largely being kept in the dark, members of the self-proclaimed Islamic State were acquiring detailed intelligence on the movements of Cardin, the second U.S. service member killed in Iraq, and his fellow Marines.

The circumstances of Cardin’s death and deployment have become a familiar, disturbing pattern in this war—one where the U.S. military does not reveal what it is asking of troops until it has to, usually when a service member is killed. Up until Cardin’s death, the U.S. military said it troops were only on heavily fortified bases; that its forces were not part of any offensive operations; that they were properly secured; and that frontline troops are counted in publicly released tallies of those deployed in Iraq.
But Saturday’s attack revealed that none of that was accurate.
Cardin and his fellow Marines were at what the military called a fire base. It’s a term that harkens to the Vietnam War, referring to a temporary outpost that supports bigger bases. Rather than a large compound, a fire base is a bare-bones facility designed to support frontline troops.
The U.S. military has said that its troops were at secured bases. And yet the Marines stationed at this fire base have come under two attacks in three days.

A US marine at a Iraqi military base will stand out like a sore thumb. How the eff did any styupid idiot expect to keep it “secret.” It’s about as secure as Hillary’s emails.
This Administration is chock-full of Muslim Brotherhood types, as has been amply documented for anyone willing to look at the truth. Which is far too few.

Well, more likely, the Obola administaration IS deliberately asociating with Islamic extremists INSIDE the Army and Marine bases as they “plan” Muslim outreach and Muslim anti-civilian-deaths and activities and searches. (Don’t “dare” harm innocent civilians in Muslim neighborhoods ya know, so “we shall have to alert the civilians in the neighborhood PRIOR to any US troops going on a search and arrest mission where civilians could be affected when we search for terrorists.” )
SO, the collaborators are already inside the fence, perfectly able and willing to direct fire and alert shooters outside to the best time to fire.
And, since the White House and administration consider the US in general and US troops as “being at fault” in this war - because they are actually daring to oppose Islam! (no matter how poorly it is done) - in the White House “mind” this is not a military problem. Not a moral problem. Not any kind of problem at all.

The leak could be from anywhere. Go there and you’d be amazed at how many Iraqis are involved in our logistics and personnel movements. The GoI would have to know about that base as well. None of that is a real secret there.

Let’s see, our former Secretary of State puts reams of highly-classified information, including the location and movement of a US ambassador, on an unsecured email server and we’re debating whether or not she did anything wrong. We put Muslims in high-ranking positions in the White House, the Pentagon and DHS and we’re surprised that information is leaking out?
Remember: “On August 6, 2011, a Chinook helicopter carrying 38 people, including 22 U.S. Navy SEALS which mostly consisted of SEAL Team Six (actually, DEVGRU) members, crashed in Afghanistan, killing everyone on board. The helicopter was reported to have been shot down by Afghan insurgents while it was on its way to provide back-up to troops on the ground. It was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade in an incident that has been described as a “target of opportunity” for the Taliban. The shot itself was also described as “blind luck” since an RPG’s aim is highly inaccurate.” That was the government’s position.
The truth: the Chinook in question was a CH-47 “slick” - “the only aircraft available at the time”, not the special operations variant MH-47 normally used by special operations units (especially Tier-1 units), which has significantly more defensive measures that make it more survivable in hostile operational environments.
We’re expected to believe that, in the almost immediate aftermath of the Bin Laden raid and the acknowledgment of the involvement of “SEAL Team 6” in the raid by the Village Idiot, Joe Biden, members of a Tier-1 unit got on a slick CH-47 and it just happened to get shot down shortly after takeoff by an RPG. Sorry, didn’t buy it then and don’t buy it now; we used to call a shot like that a “golden BB”.
