The Senate Must Deny Obama’s Bid to Transform the Supreme Court
Accuracy in Media ^ | March 21, 2016 | Andrew McCarthy

I think very highly of Merrick Garland, whom President Obama has nominated to fill the Supreme Court seat of the late, legendary Justice Antonin Scalia. Merrick was a voice of reason and sound judgment as a top official in the Clinton Justice Department during the Nineties when I was prosecuting terrorists.

Not only is it a good one,it’s an indirect endorsement of the entire Trump candidacy.

Probably one of the saddest letters you will read concerning the low state to which we have fallen. The cause? Our inattention to the activities of those otherwise ordinary “citizens” we delegate to properly operate the system the Founding Fathers ATTEMPTED to leave us. We have permitted them to become the “royalty” and cloak themselves in “...titles of nobility”...brave and angry men began to resist in Boston Harbor and on Lexington Green.

Thomas Jefferson issued multiple warnings about what would happen if we failed to be attentive to the process.
“Yes, we did produce a near perfect republic. But will they keep it? Or, will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the path to destruction.”

“In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in men but bind them down from mischief with the chains of the Constitution”

Those warnings were echoed nearly 2 centuries later with these words:

“Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; if it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it.” — Judge Learned Hand, 1944

PLEASE READ THIS MOVING MISSIVE AND, IF YOU AGREE, SEND IT ON. THIS MAY BE THE LAST CHANCE WE HAVE TO LEAVE OUR CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN THE HARD WON BIRTHRIGHT OUR PARENTS LEFT US AND WHICH WE NOW HAVE TAKEN FOR GRANTED!

Despite McCarthy’s praise of Garland, his main basis for blocking the appointment appears rather systemic than focused on the merits of the individual nominee. I believe there is sufficient reason to oppose Garland based on lack of qualfications as shown in this analysis:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2016/03/21/what-happened-when-merrick-garland-wrote-for-himself/

It would appear that Judge Garland is a rubber-stamp approval for any executive or bureaucratic action. The concept of “limited government” supposedly enshrined in the Constitution appears alien to him. He’s the perfect “yes man” in a black robe for a communist regime, whether an 0bama regime or a Clinton regime.

DING! That's all anyone needed to hear.

Come to think of it, all anyone ever needs to hear is, "Obama nominated ...."

You're most welcome...pass it on. Trump is more than correct when he wants to halt for a period of time,i.e., until director, Sarah Saldana of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE); Obama appointment...another lawyer with no law enforcement experience....until she/that dept.gets a handle on who is coming in.....
