Tolerating deviancy never works. For deviants will always seek the next lowest level. Accept men marrying men today and tomorrow they will be looking for us to accept a marriage of three people. Or bestiality. Or pedophilia. It will never end. There will always be a lower level to sink to and this nonsense will not stop until we as a society collectively draw a line in the sand and say NO MORE!
A civilization needs laws, morals, pride, and a positive cultural identity. Folks need to have an identity in families, communities, nations, other positive organization.
If folks aren't held to a high standard and some shared responsibility, too many let their inner beast take over.
Most of civilization is "running on empty" in every aspect of what promotes civilized behavior. There's a not-so-invisible hand that is tearing it all down, with the goal of acquiring all power and possessions for an elite few.

Interesting that you say that, I seem to recall some here at FR defending homosexuals from any association with pedophiles or pedophilia. I think there is a link, though, and you can see it in pop culture, and even anticipate this behavior if you're in a social setting where they are present.
We must be wary if we leave our children entrusted to adults, in any setting where they are alone with them.
For example, I quit supporting the Boy Scouts after their leadership voted to allow homosexual Scoutmasters (their first mistake, even though there was a supreme court decision that protected them -- they did it because of perceived fundraising issues). It was an easy decision for me, and I had strong bonds to the institution as an Eagle scout.
