When we lived in Utah in the mid-90s one of the common complaints was about people moving to Utah from California because of the high taxes and over regulation who once they got to Utah started to vote for politicians who promised the same high taxes and regulation that drove them from California.
I asked someone moaning about how backwards the South is, “why are you still here if you hate it so much?”
