That’s cool they did that in the Clint Eastwood Movie Fire Fox!!!
Even that far north there are men leaning on their shovels!
“Im not sure surfacing through ice is a good idea with a multi billion dollar boat.”
A submarine does not gain speed and go busting through the ice. It is a very slow, careful process which involves internal heat and heated air. ;-)
It’s ironic:
USS Hartford (SSN-768), a Los Angeles-class submarine, is the second ship of the Navy to be named for Hartford, Connecticut. The contract to build her was awarded to the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation in Groton, Connecticut on 30 June 1988 and her keel was laid down on 22 February 1992. She was launched on 4 December 1993.
The City of Hartford, is presently in the throws of becoming insolvent, b/c of decades of *drunk-as-a-sailor* spending by a stream of democrat mayors. Millions in debt, maybe it is trillions, who knows?....I look as this UUS Hartford event as a metaphor of the city’s dire straights. Maybe there is hope for the city. Maybe.
The last time the Hartford made news it ran aground and was severely damaged at an Italian port.
there is for sure a new captain and most likely a new chief of the boat that needs the experience
They had a sub sandwich : )
I need to add the climatechange keyword....should have already done that.
