A power grab by the Environmental Protection Agency threatens to crash Americas amateur car-racing industry without putting so much as a dent in climate change, warns the chairman of the House Space, Science and Technology Committee.
The EPAs move to regulate emissions on non-road racing vehicles contradicted agency administrator Gina McCarthys earlier testimony that the EPA did not have authority over non-road race cars and motorcycles.
EPA officials said they are clarifying emissions law, yet the Clean Air Act has long exempted non-road vehicles used in competition. The agency has not made a similar move against NASCAR or other professional race circuits.
The EPA cannot assume powers that Congress hasnt given, Rep. Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, said at an Oversight Subcommittee hearing Tuesday. The Texas Republican accused the agency of unlawful regulation (conducted) without proper notice.
Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-North Carolina, introduced a bipartisan bill, HR 4715, to block the EPAs action.

A petition drive in opposition to the EPA rule collected 100,000 signatures within 24 hours.
The amateur racing industry employs an estimated 1 million people, with direct and indirect sales surpassing $6 billion annually.

If it crushes American jobs, Obama is going to do it or support it.
How else can he kill off a million jobs in one little action?

Been doing it for decades Lammie. Perhaps if you in Congress did your frigging jobs and stopped relying on a shadow government bureaucracy.
What the hell did they think would happen with all these alphabet agencies?
Big Chief and Kye will not be happy!
They could easily put the kibbosh to the EPA (and dozens of other useless federal organizations, departments, and agencies) simply by cutting their funding.
Yep. It’s a power they still have discovered the backbone to use.
SO the EPA works to DESTROY it.
Traitorcongress, including Lammie, has done nothing but bend over to the Obama regime.

Obama administration = the death of fun in the USA.
And they cannot convince the dozen leftists at the EPA who are involved with this to lay off?
And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

Car racing is a white thing, get over it. Next up - ice hockey.
The EPA is a communists Democrat anti American organization. They are working to destroy America piece by piece. Hope Trump will disband this insane bunch of communists.
Trump for President.
Meanwhile, they haven’t made VW fix its cars, or required states to fail them at emissions testing.
Well, what are the racers complaining about? They can always race plug in electrics. Pit stops might be 12 hours long....
Proving yet again just how worthless the Republicans have become!
