According to a polling average complied by Pollster.com, Ted Cruz leads Donald Trump in Utah with 22 percent support to 18 percent for Trump, and a mere four percent for Kasich. But those polling numbers may no longer be relevant and Trump will try to push them considerably farther in his direction by holding his Salt Lake City rally on Friday.

If this polling is correct, no wonder Mittens is trying to affect the outcome. If Trump is this close in the polls, Mittens may really screw things up. Plus you have to wonder where the other 50% of voters went in this poll. Cruz at 22, Trump at 18 and Kasich at 1 where are the other 59%? Are they all undecided?
Maybe the other 59% want Glenn dreck?
This seems good news for Trump IMO. He was four points behind Cruz last month WITH RUBIO ON TOP at 24 percent and leading Cruz by two points.
Rubio gets out, and those with the theory that his votes would go to Cruz have not come true. Instead it looks like they split between Trump and Cruz evenly. This tells me, Trump is closing in on Cruz in Utah.
Which is surprising to me in that I would assume the Mormon vote (Romney, Hatch) would go for Cruz and he should be leading all along by 10 points. But he is not, no one is impressed or even cares what Romney had to say in Utah.
Romney may even be helping Trump.

I’m writing off Utah. Like I said in another thread, when I was there on business, my cab driver refused to stop at the liquor store on the way from the airport to the hotel. That place has beautiful scenery, but some of the people are very creepy. Fits with Ted’s narrative nicely, I’m sure he will enjoy his victory there, while Trump triumphs in AZ, which is winner take all.
Utah is 40 proportional delegates unless someone gets over 50%, but even if Ted wins it all, his crushing defeats in the next bunch of states after that are going to get Trump the delegates he needs.
It’s over.
I think the polls just drop the numbers for the dropouts. I don’t think they are relevant any more. I would bet a good chunk of that 50% are Rubio and Carson votes.
What will be interesting is how many of those dropped votes go Cruz, Trump, or Kasich. Idaho pulled hard for Cruz. I think Utah is his as well.

This would explain the Romney circus. It is as if Romney is co-opting Cruz’ campaign and he thinks he is having a third chance at running for prez. Romney is totally delusional. I simply do not understand what Cruz is doing here or is he knuckling under to his donor’s wishes? The principled conservative is chucking his principles out the window.

Cruz could have been a contender. He is now in bed with the Bushes. And they will throw him under the bus after working for months. Ted you better bring out the snakes because you are toast. Mitt use Kasich last week in Ohio.

This is very interesting indeed. Trump did not make a single appearance in Idaho and that was Mormon country too.
But in Utah he is fighting. If there is any truth to this poll and 59% are up for grabs Trump could either win Utah or he could come in a close second and deny Cruz any traction while winning Arizona and getting all the delegates there.
