If I were a greasy-haired, dope-smoking, heavily tattooed and pierced, unemployable reprobate, I’d be offended at the comparison. What right does he have to compare someone with a few flaws to evil incarnate?

Do you really want to save America? Okay, then completely transform the media, academia and entertainment so they’re not brainwashing citizens 24/7 with anti-American, anti-Christian, multiculturalist, socialist, feminist and a multitude of other lies.

This may be the reason Trump is doing so well. I am firmly convinced that Cruz is more of a constitutional conservative, but this more fundamental need is something that a showman like Trump may be able to address. The voters know it, and so do America's enemies in the media and in the GOP establishment.

Notice during all the debates on either side no one talks about our 100% GDP deficit?-)

Well, it does give you a long view of history, when your family has been here so long; and when not only the history books, but the intimate oral traditions of your own little ‘tribe’, prove how much America has survived that at the time seemed disastrous.

The author is probably right. Even if Trump wins he will not be able to stop American from becoming more socialist.

I see the 0bama election - and to a lesser extend, his re-election - as a bit of a chimera event, what the French term an "enthusiasm". Consider: a Republican President who carried on a war that became increasingly unpopular as it dragged on, a young, romantically black candidate who promised peace and redistribution of wealth, and the opportunity to "make history" and garner an illusion of virtue as racially broadminded by voting for him. That combination of circumstances is highly unlikely to recur. Hillary is attempting to graft feminism in place of racial sensitivity in the same form of "it's our turn now". Unfortunately that sort of identity politics has a clear expiration date as the oppressed groups du jour tend to change. It's still worth a try, though, and she is.

The problem with that is twofold: first, "it's our turn now" as 0bama has played it means that the President is not the President for the entire country and plays a role of social justice coordinator that is neither in the Constitution nor a legitimate political force. The intense racial hatred that has scarred his administration is the result. Secondly, identity politics has the absurd defect that one must not be merely a member of the aggrieved group but known as being aggrieved about it, hence a Sarah Palin is "not a woman" and a Ben Carson is "not black". Mere class membership is not enough, one must have a ticket punched as an activist to qualify. And yes, this is as weird as it sounds.

This cannot continue, at least in that there can only be one "first". What can continue, and what the Left is resolutely attempting to establish, is a new role of social engineering that has nothing to do with representing the people's wishes and everything to do with forcing them to conform to a predetermined set of wishes approved by someone else. There is the complication that people might not want to be forced and attempt to eject their social architects, hence the panic and outrage currently evidenced by the very openly declared ruling class that it might be overturned. That cannot be allowed. This is why progressives so easily slide into the role of totalitarianism, and why obedience takes the place of consensus.

But it isn't, in the long run, either "sustainable" or particularly stable. The Nazis did not produce a perfect Aryan and the Communists did not produce the Soviet Man. One can attempt to engineer society but one cannot engineer people. The current passion for political correctness, for mind control through language control, is doomed to failure, but it won't go down without a fight.

If the lowlifes in Washington try to steal the value of my vote they’ll find out exactly how much this election means to me and to all the other citizens of this country...

Yes, we do care...

Time to reflect on the question “How do ethical societies emerge from chaos?” And such societies have they occasionally emerged from chaos, but how?

2 Timothy 3:2-5New International Version (NIV)

2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency.

It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails them.

Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

Attributed to an un-named Czech Republic “leader”...

Barack Obama and the havoc he’s wreaked is a big problem for our Republic, but at the core of our problems is the lack of republican values of the vast number of the “depraved electorate”, the voters who elected one such as he...

I fear the “Dindoo Nuffins Gibsmedats” will continue to get their way...

Very well stated. “New Soviet Man” was an attempt to defy immutable laws of human nature, and as a result he was nothing but a drunken wife beater who didn’t give a damn about his job or anyrhing else.

The left cannot fracture American society into various irrational, dysfunctional competing groups and simultaeously stamp us into conforming to a uniform politically correct dogma. It’s not going to work.

No, I reject the “end is near” scenarios.

Well said, and good examples. Solutions often only appear in endgames.

“Yeah said the same thing right before Reagan got elected...Boy was I wrong.”

If you mean “stay of execution” then you were right. As much as I LOVED REAGAN, all he wound up doing was buying us time. He simply was unable to turn the ship around, and certainly no one after him came close...at best they slowed things down a bit, but not much.

It is wonderful that your family has kept alive some of the stories from that time.

I only know that some of my ancestors were Massachusetts Bay Colony settlers because I have traced my family tree. Others settled in CT in the same time-frame. Not a single family story has survived from that time.

My grandmother married very young, and my father very late; so I was raised by pretty old folks whose memories and first- and second-hand stories went back, collectively, to before the Civil War.

Many today don’t fully realize how devastating that war was for both sides; nor do they truly understand the horrors of the Great Depression for many, many people.

We survived both, and survived brilliantly.

I heard an author being interviewed on the radio the other day, and I’m interested in reading one of his books; I’m wondering if anyone here has read it:

The radical left attacks Trump for being a racist because he plans on controlling Muslim immigration into this country. According to the cockamamie thinking of the left, any President who does his constitutional duty by protecting the nation from Muslim butchers is a racist.

DONALD NEEDS TO START HERE TO GET THE JOB DONE

-Back in October 2011 one of the most astute lawmen in Washington, Cong Louis Gohmert (Repub-TX), a former judge, questioned then-DHS Secy Janet Napolitano about Mohamed Elibiary, a member of the Department of Homeland Security Council (DHS) with a high level security clearance.

Elibiary allegedly accessed, illegally, from his home computer, a Texas State and Local Intelligence Community database.....(Elibiary was ousted from the Homeland Security Advisory Council for shady activities---and settled in Texas).

Napolitano managed to unglue her lips from Obama's behind---and told Cong Gohmert she knew nothing about it, and that she would "personally" do the investigation. (waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

=========================================================

Obama gave 5 MILLION federal hires top security clearance.

======================================================

The following have top US security clearance

Arif Alikhan, assistant secretary of Homeland Security for policy development;

Mohammed Elibiary, a member of the Homeland Security
Advisory Council (ousted for using his home computer
to tap into a Texas State and Local Intelligence Community database
;

Rashad Hussain, the U.S. special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference;

Salam al-Marayati, co-founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC);

Imam Mohamed Magid, president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA);

Eboo Patel, a member of President Obama's Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships.

==================================================

Estimates range from several thousand to approximately eight million Islamic fighters inside the United States as we type. The exact number is unknown. Several thousand could create havoc if a coordinated attack was to occur. keep in mind, on 9/11, just 19 Islamic fighters and hijackers killed almost three thousand people. One has to believe the worst case scenario----that nearly eight million are already here....and being welcomed by Obama.

========================================================

Cong Michelle Bachman says the FBI told her Americans who joined ISIS are allowed back in the US.
