I know the Cruz people like to stand side by side with Trump and pretend they’re in the same position but they’re really not. Cruz is basically in the same position as Kasich. At some point he will be mathematically eliminated too and he’ll have to take it to the convention (It’s clear that’s what his strategy is now). If Cruz has a case then so does Kasich.
That was a foolish statement. You need those Cruz voters(voters that historically stay home if they have been betrayed by the elite) in the general election and you Trump supporters are a huge turn-off that crowd. Republicans have a very predictable base and you either do what you need for those votes or you do not get elected like McCain, Romney, etc...
If Cruz does not have enough delegates to force Trump to work a deal with him as his VP and the establishment force chooses a rino as Trump's VP as they did Reagan you are going to lose a ton of the base...base that does not trust Trump or see him as a rope-a-dope.
Trump is no conservative and the thinking man knows this. when you put a rino on Trump's ticket it is worthless as Romney's ticket was.....Romney who could not get the Christian's to vote for him.
You better hope that those Cruz supporters have a reason to vote Trump not stay home which they have proven over and over they do. At some point it is time to really think about where this is going and what you need in your next step to win and win big.
It would be a brilliant ground game ticket, Trump with the enthusiastic base that will go work for him and Cruz with that proven home school base that all candidates want in their ground game. It would be a landslide ground game with a hugely enthusiastic base.
Trump with a rino is the conservative base being betrayed once again. But hey, go ahead and be condescending to the people you really need to succeed because arrogance is just so much fun and not a huge turn off to the voter base you desperately need to show you are not going to betray because they already fear that from Trump.
