Look at it this way.
If Cruz threw him under the bus (anywhere, anytime) he would be decried as "having turned on his friend, and he'll do the same to you".
It is another no-win situation, as far as those opposed to him go. Nothing he says or does will be right, and anything he does will be presented in the worst possible light.
Odd, too that it has been a matter of record that Heidi Cruz was asked to sit on a panel on North American trade back when, but today, the internet search engine I use returns seven pages of blogged hit pieces (some of which use other blogs as sources) before you even begin to get close to the actual first hand information. No coordination in the blogosphere attacks, right?

As for Beck, I think Cruz would be seen as executing good judgment to send him on his way. Or at a minimum asks Beck to temper the nutty stuff. The same situation would exist if elected. He would have Stabby mouthing off or make a stand against nutty.
