Actually, there were big Nazi clubs on numbers of U.S. campuses right up to Pearl Harbor. A 1941 issue of LIFE magazine had a real eye-opener article about the Harvard Nazi Club, the nation's largest.
Grownups had the Bund and older Turnvereins among working-class Germans.
Not surprised. They probably segued into the Harvard Democrats without blinking an eye.
