Yeah, I dunno. I’m not seeing much wrong other than Kasich (and I am no fan) called the cop an idiot. In point of fact, it is the idiot Ohio legislature, or municipality, that made this traffic violation a mandatory appearance. That is ridiculous. People work. Kasich asked the cop if he could just pay the fine. Nope, had to appear in court on Monday morning.
Kasich was reasonably polite at the stop as was the officer. Again, Kasich’s calling the cop an idiot is misplaced. The cop didn’t make the court appearance mandatory. However, I will stipulate that the cop could have given him Kasich a warning, but did the cop did the “respect my athoritah” routine.
Bottom line? Not much there.
Agree with Obadiah
Kasich didn’t try to move over to the left when he could easily have done it. Most people do.
Did you see how dangerous this spot was for anyone having to get out of the car, the police in this case? I don’t know how many times I’ve read about a good Samaritan getting run over because they stopped to help someone change a tire or something when the car is pulled over. It is dangerous for everyone not to give as much leeway as possible when a car or emergency vehicle is stopped on the side of the road.
Kasich was in the wrong and the policeman was not an idiot. But obviously, Kasich didn’t learn anything. Next time he might caused someone to die because of his obstinacy.
Kasich is a fool. Those voting for him are even bigger fools.
Everyone else moved over, even that big work truck. And, from what I saw, Kasich was enough ahead of the other cars to do so without putting himself in danger. He didn’t even put on a left turn signal. He must have been ignorant of the law, which would be his only defense. However, as any lawyer knows ignorance is no defense.
