Karl Rove fears slump in general election turnout with Trump as nominee

Karl Rove, a critic of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, said late Wednesday that voters could stay home in November if the businessman becomes his party's nominee but doesn’t change his strategy for the general election fight.

The GOP operative spoke with Democratic counterpart David Plouffe, who worked on President Obama’s campaigns, at an event held by technology company SAP at the Newseum. For much of the panel, the questions were framed around a hypothetical situation in which front-runners Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton had become the nominees. During a discussion about the role of data in campaigns, Rove said that if Trump doesn’t “change his understanding of the voter he’s talking to” once the primaries are over, he could be in for trouble.

While general election turnout had been on the rise for several election years, the percentage of registered voters who turned out to vote in the 2012 general election dropped significantly.

“I would not be surprised again to see it drop again this time,” said Rove, who helped run sophisticated presidential campaigns for President George W. Bush and served in his administration.

He should fear it.

If Trump isnt there, then those crowds he attracts will walk.

Comforting news, given Rove’s nearly unbroken record of being wrong. He leapfrogged Dickie Morris in that competition.

Why does anybody pay attention to him any more? He is a propagandist, not an analyst.

The only Slump Rove will experience will be both his credibility and his income.

I know I'm preaching to the choir ... but if anyone hadn't realized yet that Rove is little more than a GOP-E shill, it's long past time to wake up.

So, if Trump is the nominee, Rove is promising to suppress the vote? The GOP-e stays home in a snit.

Judge Merrick Garland Doesn’t Appear to Be Friendly To Second Amendment Rights

Now, Burns does add that Garland isn’t good on gun rights, and he’s certainly not reliable if such a case were brought before the Court.
