Barack is a lame duck I'm sure to be pilloried, but I'm a stickler for usage. He won't be a lame duck until his successor is chosen in November. See Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary 698 (2004) (defining "lame duck" as "an elected official or group continuing to hold political office during the period between the election and the inauguration of a successor").
