I just read that there are 10 to 30 times more fish in the sea than previously thought but 95 percent are out of reach of fishermen with current technology. hmm.

Argentina’s coastguard has sunk a Chinese fishing trawler that was operating illegally within its territorial waters, the coastguard said on Tuesday.
In a high-seas chase, a coastguard vessel on Monday pursued the fishing vessel Lu Yan Yuan Yu 010 toward international waters, firing warning shots across the Chinese boat’s bow as it attempted to raise the crew by radio.
“On several occasions, the offending ship performed maneuvers designed to force a collision with the coastguard, putting at risk not only its own crew but coastguard personnel, who were then ordered to shoot parts of the vessel,” the coastguard said in a statement.
The coastguard said it rescued four of the trawler’s crew while others who abandoned ship were picked up by another Chinese vessel shadowing the pursuit.

Thanks Save Ferris

R.

Sometimes extreme is the only way to change things.

Years ago Canadians were complaining about Japanese boats fishing off the Maritimes; they weren’t subject to the limits Canada imposed on its own fleet. IIRC, they weren’t in Canada’s territorial waters - just half a world from home.

those fishing boats out in open ocean waters tend to be quite big.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a lot bigger than the military boat.

I think so, too. Especially if China gets testy.

Guess we will see.

Why not ask Chinese fishing boat captain who is named Hu Shu Ting?

That is bout as far away from China as you could get. Looks like their new aircraft carrier may have a new mission.

They were sunk due to trying to ram the coast guard boat.

Having worked with the Asian fishing industry part of my career, I can tell you that Chinese and Japanese fish all the worlds oceans.

Over illegal fishing? Bit extreme, donchathink?

About a year ago Indonesia sunk more than one Chinese fishing ship for illegal fishing in their waters.
