Remember when he said hey the oil companies have plenty of leases they don’t need to expand them. Jokes on our country huh?
Sick leftists.

Bush I did the same thing, Bush II didn’t remove the ban until just before he left office.

Can’t have that money going to American companies.
The Saudis won’t like it and they pay bribes and give gifts to our politicians.

An oil company would have to be fool to agree to risk many millions to contract for rights with the USA.
They have better chances dealing with third world thugs in Africa running countries with offshore oil prospects.

With gas prices now they are most likely not profitable. I would think many companies would focus on fracking for now.

I don’t have any numbers, but I’ve always thought that fracking was the more expensive way.
Maybe not though, since they already hold those leases and mostly with private landholders

That’s fine, it’s just like money in bank.
Take it out when the price is higher and the supply is lower.
In the meantime, shouldn’t we be taking advantage of the low prices to add to the Strategic Oil Reserve?
Maybe next year...

Actually I can see Obama’s point. If we add to our huge petroleum producing capacity it will hurt Saudia Arabia and other oil producing Islamic countries in the Middle East.
From Obama’s POV that’s a slam dunk. And, as an added bonus, it hurts the U.S. Economy. That makes it a Twofer and irresistible for an Islamic Marxist like Obama.
To: SeekAndFind
For the time being, it doesn't matter much. With oil at $30/bbl, any offshore lease auction for tracts in the Atlantic Ocean would attract ZERO interest. As of today, nobody would even bother nominating a tract for auction.
"What if they held a federal offshore lease auction, and nobody came to bid?"
